Mancini's Italian job

Leave City when we're on the brink of of a sustained run of major trophies? He'd be absolutely mad.

however, he is very passionate about his origins and the pull could be to much.

having said that, i agree with another post regarding him being only 47,
Italy do tend to go through a lot of managers with 1 every 2yrs of late and
he came to us and has made us more stable.

Mancini has 1yr left on his city contract with talks to extend going on, i hope
he signs another for 5yrs for us and take it from there.

Wishful thinking on the part of those who don't want City to achieve more success with Mancini. There's no way this is happening any time soon.

The whole article seems to be based on speculation - ie Italy having a bad tournament, and THEN sacking the manager...

Let us all therefore get behind Super Mario and support Italy in the Euro 2012 tournament. A semi-final performance and their manager will most probably stay, leaving Roberto here for at least another full season.

The bad news:
I believe Mancini would jump at the chance to manage Italy. I feel he would leave us for 2 jobs, maybe 3, only. Of those 3 the Juve and Italy jobs are the biggest threats. The other is Sampdoria but not sure he would go there right now.

The good news:
Italy will win the Euros and keep Pirandelli. Actually, even if they lose out they will likely keep Pirandelli due to the progress he has made with them. Only humiliation would see him go I reckon.

In terms of Juve, I'm not sure he'd go there just now given the new match fixing allegations rocking Italy.

Need to tie him down with a 5 year deal right now, imho.

I fear he would be tempted, due to the fact that it would allow him to spend more time with his father who isn't in the best of health these days.

First of all, Prandelli has done a great job in Euro qualifications, and there is no need to sack him.
He could be fired just in case a a VERY poor performance in the first phase... because we made long term project that should lead us with a pretty good team for WC 2014.
By the way, Mancini is happy right now and Italian Team is not in a "bright" era, plus he love MC and England.
He'll stay for shure.

I think Mancini is too young to be the National team manager. I think he is perfectly happy at City and will stay with us ideally for at least another 5 years. After that he will go to a big team like Juventus in Italy or Madrid in Spain and after he has no doubt won things there he will want to use the Italy job as one to retire on.
