Mancini's missus calling the shots?

If you seriously think there's nothing going on in Manchester, then spend sometime on here. <a class="postlink" href="http://www.skyscrapercity.com/forumdisplay.php?f=335" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.skyscrapercity.com/forumdisplay.php?f=335</a>

And no, I'm not plugging the site. I might post on it(23,000/10 years), but it isn't my site. However, if you want to roll most of the Manchester related websites into one, then there's no better place. Plenty of discussion and topics updated on a daily basis.

Plenty of links to the MEN, Manchester Confidential, Place North West, Business Desk North West, How Do, Manchester City Council Planning applications, etc, etc.

PS. Outside London their isn't a better city in the UK for things to see and do, outside of football.

People comparing Manchester with Barcelona and Milan and other world cities, the problem is most people have only ever seen other cities as visitors, and you only get to see the good bits, Athens is a loverly City, but would you want to live there, Both Spain and Italy and virtually bankrupt states (and Catalonia is in a terrible financial state) with years of austerity ahead of them (Greek Style), I know where I would rather be earning my money.

Although I don't live in Manchester anymore I am well traveled and have visited Cities all over the world, most of them are pretty good if you are rich but bloody awful for the poor

In those world city 'liveability' studies, Manchester fares very well. Vageuly recall it being around 42 in the world (in one particualar study linked below) - ahead of London. No other UK city is listed in the top 100. Melbourne and Vancouver seem to vie for top spot each year, but the comments sections from the respective cities are a 'hoot'...if you thought natives here looked down miserably on their own city, you should read the discussions on the local ones there (Vancouver may waz all over 'Manny' for annual rainfall as an example.

Perhaps one or two Michelin starred restaurants may be needed (although there are one or two very decent places dotted around the city region) and according to rumours...they won't be too far off.

Probably best to judge it on the 'city region' front rather than the old boundary lines...and approximity to some of Englands most glorious scenery (the Lakes).

As for music...not that important we're not producing the bands of yesteryear...you can get your hands on some of the best music produced worldwide due to a nice, globular network of musical conduits in the city.

In saying all that...there's still huge swathes of the city proper which needs looking at, and which falls very short of much of the worlds great cities. A walk from Piccadilly station through Piccadilly gardens to Market street really is p*ss poor considering some of the rhetoric from 'Brand Manchester'.
Not good.

Berlin is a good benchmark to look up to (non med).

Come on, which city in Europe has 6000 trees(imported from germany) in one of it's mose deprived areas? :-?

Ive been to London twice in the past 3 years, and by the end of the day Ive just wanted to leave. Manchester, I could stay there forever. Just a beautiful city in every sense of the word.

Why doesn't she just f*** off then and leave Bobby with us ? Didn't she know what Manchester was like before she moved there; bet the c.£5 million salary has nothing to do with it. Milan is s***e for weather, anyway - good for shopping and all that couture w**k but not that much better. I work it Scumdon and just come back from the pub soaking wet. England weather is c**p ; she should know that. As for the cultural bit -well parts of it are no worse than most European cities.
