Friday, the 8th of June 2012 - It has emerged that Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini is stalling on signing a new deal with the club because his wife does not like the City of Manchester. Mancini has one year remaining on his current contract and sources close to him say he is confused on whether or not to stay because the decision will have some bearing on how much time he can spend with his wife.
It is understood that the club’s owners are keen to retain Mancini after he led the club to its first Premier League title in 44 years. Word has it that Mancini held talks with the club’s billionaire owners in Abu Dhabi last month but nothing concrete was agreed.
Some chatter from Italy also suggests that the 47 year old manager might also be holding off on signing a new contract because he thinks the Italy job might become open after Euros.
A club source however says that the real reason might have more to do with his wife than with Italy;
“The manager’s wife does not like the north west and spends as much time as possible back in Italy.
“She has not been able to get on board with the weather or the lifestyle, and has made this known to Mancini.”
“The manager himself regularly flies back to Sardinia straight after a match, although this has sometimes been due to his father’s ill health.
“But his wife’s dislike of Manchester is a genuine issue which isn’t going to go away and could determine his long-term future.”
“The manager is happy here, but he is also very family-orientated.”

And I left the source in there so you can make up your own mind as to veracity.
And then there is this from Setanta (Ireland):
Roberto Mancini will reportedly pledge his future to Manchester City and sign a new four-year deal at the club in the next fortnight.
The Etihad boss has been linked with the Italian national job and admits he would like to take on the role at some point in his career.
But Mancini has held a series of talks with City's Abu Dhabi regime and it is understood the Italian will pen a contract worth around £5million-a-year before bonuses.
The former Inter Milan chief was once the highest-paid manager in the world at the San Siro on a staggering £9million-a-year, but was prepared to take a pay-cut to £3million-a-year to try his luck at City.
And with the FA Cup and Premier League trophy now won over the last 12 months, City's owners want to nail down their man and back him to the hilt.
Mancini has been promised substantial transfer funds and has lined up bids for Arsenal's Robin Van Persie and Tottenham's Gareth Bale.
But the biggest signing this summer will be Mancini, who has told City and close aides he does not want to think about a return to his homeland for a number of years.
Someone is telling porkies!!
