Mancio Post Poznan

This appears to be the thread for sensible debate on the topic.

I would be dumbfounded if he resigned. He'll want his payout and I don't think he's a quitter.

So says the expert...

Ah, but nice of you to give a counter argument on your views on verbal and non-verbal tells...

Why bother with a point of view when a cliche will do...

It's a 40 second interview, minutes after his team lost their third game on the trot thanks largely to a freak of a goal with a couple of minutes to go. Is there a worst way to lose than that? Of course he was pissed off but there's nothing in the interview to suggest he's apologising to anyone or that he is defeated and it's absurd to suggest so. Watch any manager who's team have just lost like that and they'll all look the same. Maybe he did use some 'strange' words but English isn't his first language and things like that are going to happen.

What I see from Mancini these past few weeks is a struggle to understand why he's suddenly become under so much pressure from the media and why in every interview he has to defend everything he does. I'm sure he doesn't understand what a media darling Hughes was that he never really stood a chance with the press once he replaced the saviour the way he did.

My views were not just based on that interview. I said these things last week as well.

This most recent interview merely summed up the concerns I have about the manager's confidence in doing the job.

I hope he succeeds, I'm a big fan of the man, but it's clear to me, at least, that he's buckling a bit at the moment.

Maybe he does, after all, need someone from the club to come out and seriously back him. Or for him to finally leave no one in doubt that he is in charge...

But he's not doing that at the moment for me. Sorry.

-- Fri Nov 05, 2010 10:42 am --

No manager ever "resigns" and walks away empty handed.

I remember John Bond "resigning" ... and getting a large pay-off.

I think even Coppell got a payout!

The press hysteria over a meltdown at City should galvanise us into putting up a united front, not lead to the same knee-jerk reactions. He's the right man for the job. His demeanour, attitude, discipline tells us this. Without support from within he might just decide that the job is not worth the personal pressure that comes with it. Then where do we go or who do we go to? The rest can all f**k off.

You might very well have hit the nail on the bonce...

I am not suggesting he's set for the sack, but I fear he may decide it's no longer worth the hassle.

I want the Mancini who joined us in December last year back again... I don't like the new frightened one!

To elaborate on the theme of his body language and demeanour, of which I totally agree with by the way....

On Saturday my biggest criticism of him was that he picked a very 'un-Mancini' side; he set aside his principles and picked an overly attacking, unbalanced team. Last night, he picked a side and chose tactics which simply weren't suited. For the second game on the trot I thought he lost the plot with his selection, tactics and substitutions.

To use a cricketing analogy; when top class batsmen are horribly out of form their head is described as 'scrambled' as they can't think straight and have lost sight of their strengths and simply can't clear their head to make basic shot selections. Mancini seems to be like this at the moment and he needs to take a step back and get everything in order again. His backroom staff have a big role to play....if he'll listen to them of course.

They don't exactly inspire me with fucking confidence either, m27, if I'm really honest.

How can none of them see the problem last night? Two immobile midfielders sitting on the edge of our own box? I've talked to several blues who played the game today and they could see it.

Last night was the lowest point of the Mancini era for me. Unforgiveable and inexcusable.

In my opinion we have four players that are not good enough even for the europa league, they are the usual suspects that have been stealing a living at City and giving little in return! until we get rid of the liabilities we'll win F all!! the four liabilities are: Richards! Viera! Wright-Phillips! Bridge! These 4 players were awful last night against Posnan! I have never seen players give the ball away so much?? which in return puts the team under pressure!
I too see Mancini looking very down and pressured as the team are giving F all for him and I feel sorry for Mancini as the teams he's picking should be playing much better and giving more on the pitch! My 8 year old son puts in more effort for his team!!! These over paid W*nkers need to get a grip and have a look at themselves...or once again we will end up the laughing stock, have you noticed everyone wants us to lose, the commentators on ITV4 last night loved it to when they scored the two goals late on!!

You should have gone to West Brom that night... I was fucking fuming!

At least last night I only watched it on the box, but a few mates of mine went and it cost them £500 a head for the time they were there.

Now THAT would really have pissed me off!

This is my point though, I'm sure Kidd and Platt do see the problems but do they just toe the line or does Mancini simply not listen?

Wolves was worse for me but it was on the back of a decent performance against Arsenal. Stevie Wonder could have told you Jarvis and Hunt were going to get at us down the flanks but we picked a side which isolated our full backs. That was the main issue but I have got to do a little work today so won't start on the selection and substitutions.

I have steadfastly backed him, and still do, because I could see what he was trying to schieve, even if it wasn't creating swashbuckling football, but that's two in a row where I haven't the fucking foggiest what he was thinking.

He needs to get back on track quickly as this could all run away from him before he knows it.

I wasn't particularly arsed about West Brom to be honest, but I know you were. I saw that as a blip.

This was diferent league. The result is one thing but the performance by both the players and the management frightened me to death.

I've always had hope but last night pretty much extingiushed that for me.

he looks the exact same way he always has in interviews...people are seeing what they want to see

yes hes under pressure at the moment, but win our next 2 games and everything is hunky dory again

in my opinion the only way he will be sacked is if we dont finish 4th this season, id be perfectly happy with 4th this year, even if we dont win anything else (i think carling cup was our best chance, but now its europa, still cant see us winning that though)
