and of course famed for an incredibly witty sense of humour. lovely banter, such bonhomie. a frenzied verbal attack in response to the OP's observation.
have to say that during my 21 years in manchester, i visited a vast array of bars, pubs and clubs such as 21 piccadilly, royale's and eccles' very own mecca - the talk of the north. now being a regular at these classy establishments, you'd have thought i'd be inclined to shoot the OP down in flames. however, the lad knows his women. upon seeing the late friday night 67 bus through eccles centre, one could be forgiven for assuming one has witnessed the north west's largest cattle truck.
another joy to behold is the daily pram race on the church street circuit. the first mcclaren buggy through the doors of gregg's wins a steaming hot brace of steak bakes. participants are decorated with their curtain rings which they cleverly disguise as earrings, coupled with adidas trackies tucked into stripey socks.

How can The Talk of the North get a mention and not Sangsters or the Rainbow Rooms?

that's you showing your age. my mam and dad went in the rainbow rooms but it wasn't for youngsters when i left school. sangsters was what used to be the silver screen wasn 't it? don't know why but it never appealed to me.
i take it you've crossed the glass bridge a few times then?

Oi! You're only a couple of years younger than me ;-)

To be honest, I never went in The Talk of the North or the Rainbow Rooms and only went in Sangsters (correct, the old Silver Screen) for a De La Salle College do once.

The only club I could get in when I was under 18 was the Bar Kay in Town (now South). I looked about 12. I'd have been laughed all the way down Liverpool Road if I'd have tried to get in the Rainbow Rooms.

-- Fri Jul 30, 2010 4:45 pm --

Where were they? I reckon 1_Barry_Conlon's been in those a few times. They sound up his street.

you missed out on the talk of the north. friday nights, you were guarenteed either a fight or a shag. although you rarely got to choose which. it's now a wall having been knocked down but you can still see where the stairs when up on the inside of the wall.

A fight or a shag? Well I was shit at both when I was 18 so no great loss there.

Not up to scratch really are they? The amount of people I know who look elsewhere is ridiculous to be fair. I know I'll get slated by all the girls on this thread, but come on lads back me up on this one, wife or no wife, girlfriend or no girlfriend.

The ones who I see knocking around town are either pushing a pram at a young age, that chavvy they make Vicky Pollard look employable, cannot string a sentence together without swearing (Asbo?) or are ugly enough to give you nightmares. The decent looking ones are few and far between from what I have seen.

Thoughts? Agreement / Disagreement?

i have two daughters, both educated, both beautiful, no prams, both work full time and not chav in any way.
both have immense class.

its called upbringing.

I had a good one and so did loads of other girls I know from Manchester - Whitefield and Eccles. We do exist.

Yeah sure. I know tons of local girls. There's some lovely ones. Course there's lots of chav, it's Eccles, but not everyone is a chav around here.
