Mangala joins Valencia on a Permanent deal

If he was out of contract at the end of the current season why was he given a 1 year extension? We've been trying to offload him for years with no takers. Bench, Valencia, Everton (injured) been back at City for the past year and hasn't even made the bench. Strange contract extension...

I guess we will never know what City were thinking. He isn’t worth anything and hasn’t been worth anything for ages yet we keep paying him year after year after year.

Buying a dud is one thing as it can happen to any club. What is impossible to comprehend is that after failing to find a new club after being able to negotiate a pre-contract from last January with no transfer fee involved Mangala was given a new one year contract.

It was bizarre at the time and it makes even less sense now.

There's little doubt to me that some PL side will be interested at some point.

Porto surely don't have the money or wage structure compared to mid to lower table PL sides, especially those who struggled in defence.

The Mangler played for Pellegrini so could see that being an option, maybe Newcastle if they get a new ower. Heck Arsenal need defenders badly and they don't want to spend too much, so how can that work? I'd say we could get £12-18m still, and his wages are less compared to before so should be easier to sell. If Ake is sold for big money, and like Mangala is left footed, which is harder to find, they could use some to buy Mangala. Palace was interested, and maybe Everton for depth, again.

I think there are plenty of options that haven't come up yet. This all seems why his contract was extended.
