Mangala signs new contract

He probably hasn't got a decent club lined up & it suits him to be paid by City while he finds one, & City to get him fully fit, loan him out so he can get himself in the shop window & try to get a transfer fee.
I’m not 100% sure on the timescales, but isn’t his deal until summer 2020? So if he gets a loan, at the end of his loan he’s a free agent. So a loan wouldn’t put him in the shop window for a fee, it would put him in it for a FREE!

I trust our Club to get this decision right. The worst case scenario is year of wasted wages. The potential upside is a transfer fee that would cover the wages and and cover for our first and second choice defenders.

Unless there is an agreement, or he leaves earlier, or his wages are paid by someone else, or his agent is going to push a player towards City as a thankyou, etc.

Is it me or is the wording of the statement strange?

Why would we wish a player well in their remaining time straight after a contract extension? It’s the sort of thing you say when the player is leaving.

The whole Mangala saga makes no sense from the time he signed and the different amounts of fee paid to his playing ability.... and it’s still going.

Perhaps things will become clearer in time. I can’t believe we will actually play him. We dropped him from the CL squad and then extend his contract?

Something weird going on.

I don’t know why Mangala would even sign an extension. Maybe he feels there’s a lack of interest in him and we told him we would help get him a move?? Strange situation.

I can see why he would I’m struggling why we would.

Not sure how anyone thinks the extension suggests a transfer ban when we would automatically appeal any ban and buy ourselves an extra transfer window during the appeal to cover any holes in the squad anyway.
