Mangala signs new contract

There are no shortages of players suffering from depression, some even contemplating suicide, when their playing careers come to an end. Mangala suffered a bad injury last year and wouldn't have made the squad anyway, but I'm sure he has spent the year trying to return to full fitness and has done everything the medics and club coaches have asked of him. Whatever his state of fitness is at this time, I don't know but maybe the club are taking a responsible position towards one of their staff and a exercising a policy of due care to someone who, through no fault of his own, received a bad injury which is part and parcel of the game. I applaud the club for this policy, knowing that few other clubs would do likewise.
 
Seeing a lot saying he will have taken a pay cut to make him more sellable, There’s no law saying you must be paid what you was earning at last club.. players can take a pay cut any time hey want... makes no sense at all for him... he could walk away on a free a get better wages or signing bonus rather then stay for a year without playing or walk into a new club for less money.
Maybe he has been promised a starting place in Cup games or could he be naturalised as a Englishman freeing up a place intne foreign players selections, he has been here getting free handouts for doing nothing the last few years so meets a lot of the criteria for a British citizenships

I love the way we treat our players,with respect and that must be why they stay here for so long

I would love to see Mangala at left back.
If only to see the expressions on Pep's face.
 
Eeerr even if all our CBs were run over by a bus tomorrow - why have we done this??
I like the guy, there's a decent player in there, ain't no way he EVER plays in a Pep team though.
I was under the impression his contract was up at the end of the season. So the only reason can be selling to a partner club for an inflated price - oh that'll go down well
 
Not really much logic to this. He's well behind in the CB pecking order and no sense that he could be pressed into a DM role as surely we'd have seen evidence of that already

It does have the feel of a transfer ban deal
