Mansfield Town (h), 1998, attendance 3007, were you there?

A friend of a friend had a box in the Platt Lane and I was invited along for my one and only game in an exec box!

Hardly any were used on the night and there was 7 of us in our box. During the 2nd half, bloke comes in and took a head count.
When the official attendance of 3007 was given out, we declared ourselves there and then that we were the seven!!

I went and so did about 20 of Bayern Munichs travelling party who were going to The Swamp the night after.

Otherwise less than 3000 would have been the crowd.

When we played Shalke the other year, I got talking to a couple of Germans in Gelsenkhirken all decked out in City gear. They were big blues and travelled over to Manchester a few times a year to see us play. They'd travelled accross Germany for that game. When I talked to them about how this had come to pass, they said they were part of that very party and had supported City ever since.
