Manuel Akanji | Rumours of an Inter loan deal

I want Akanji gone but I can’t be the only with PTSD from last season injury crisis.

Stones Ake are still gonna be injured likely at the exact same time. That leaves us with Dias Gvardiol Khusonov. Gvardiol was overused last season. Dias picks up injured aswell.

I think we keep him and move on Gundo only

It’s a risk, for sure - but with six CBs, and the need to trim the squad back to comply with CL/PL restrictions, I can see why Akanji is the one to go.

Both Stones and Ake, despite being chronically injury prone, are on the Homegrown list - which we don’t need to lose any players from - whereas Dias, Gvardiol, Khusanov and Akanji all take up a non-HG space, which is oversubscribed by three as it stands.

Out of that group, I’d definitely lose Akanji.

The injury risk scenario is probably why we insisted on an option to recall Reis in his deal with Girona.

I'm not getting the negativity towards Akanji. Served us really well in the greatest of times and went above and beyond playing with an injury last season. I really appreciate all that.

All the more reason to keep him especially in a long season after our shortened break.

I don’t get it at all.

I also don’t think much of this. So they make an offer so what.

Why if he was leaving would he go there? Loads of other places would take him in PL or Italy.

Galatasaray have been pushing rumours about half our squad and so far: zilch

If it were to get that bad we have a recall clause on Reis

That’s along with Tyrone Marshall mentioning him and Gundo as candidates to leave today - I suspect something is brewing here.

(sorry if there’s already a thread here on him in the Transfer Forum, merge it if there is please)

These cunts will piss around for days then offer a five pound weed and some monster munch.

Superb, amazing and brilliantly cheap signing
Played a huge part in multiple trophies
(though his momentary brain fart in Istanbul still gives me nightmares)
Maybe it’s time. So we’re gambling on Stonesy staying fit
Seeing as John seems to be prioritising England over City nowadays, maybe a World Cup might inspire him to have fewer sick and injury days
Either way, Manu gets all my love and respect
Like Ake, he turned up when he was injured last season. because everyone else was even more seriously injured (or faking - like Walker)
The twitter dickheads don’t even consider the sacrifices Manu and Nathan made

Called this a few months ago and got pelters.

He’s the one that has to go. Not good enough to be a starter, we’ll turn a profit on him.

Ake and stones far more valuable at 50% then Akanji at 100%.

He’ll be well remembered and a model pro but it’s the short straw.

I’d be surprised if Gala managed to give Hugo a go with a Turkish ice cream man nevermind more than £15m

Given his initial price, we've received outsized production and value from Akanji in a major, major way. His contract is up in 2 years, we have to shift some foreign players and he's over 30 so I think the time is right to move him on. If we have him for another year, I'm sure he'll be an important player for us again though as Pep obviously trusts him.

He’s usually more available than both
And probably some of that is upstairs and mentality

We signed him for 15m 3 years ago as a squad player as cover. I didn't know what to expect as I didn't know anything about him. It's fair to say he's been fairly solid versatile and reliable and exceeded all expectations.

He's still under contract till 2027 so doesn't have to leave but he probably realises he won't be a regular starter if all our defenders stay fit. If he leaves I wish him well and thank him for his contribution.

Agreed. Although honestly, I reckon a lot of it was the frustration (like Walker before him) of sitting through games where he was basically the main man on the ball while everyone else was static around him, because opponents realised they can just let him have the ball as our least dangerous creative outlet. There were so many games last season where Akanji had way too many touches of the ball.

Interesting that this link has reappeared after Rico has said he wants to stay given akanji probably would have been rotated in at right back of he were to stay

Like the Cup Final. Up to Pep and the boys to be more dynamic in their passing and movement so that central defenders and especially less creative ones like Akanji are not put in that position.
