Manuel Akanji | Rumours of an Inter loan deal

I think he's been a great signing, £15m! He was a bargain. The last 2 seasons , hes not been as good, same for a few players and it’s probably a good time for him to move on.
I don’t dislike the guy, like you say been a great signing for the money. Just he’s the one that is most surplus to requirements.

So ignore his part in winning the CL and make up something that didn't happen so you can criticise him. Brilliant.
But those mistakes did happen. He didn’t bail us out of those situations his team mates did.

I’m just pointing out he is very prone to making mistakes particularly in high pressure games (arsenal away another example in which we did concede) and if it wasn’t for his team mates he would be absolutely hated for costing us the league and champions league.

Did happen? Haha you realise people can go on YouTube and watch the highlights back and see.

Akanji just stood there dozing off letting Martinez in and luckily Ed was off his line quickly to block it. Just because you don't agree with the guys opinion doesn't mean it's made up

It doesn't matter if he's leaving, just look back at him being a big part of a treble winning team and 4 in a row and be thankful for that. Analysing individual mistakes is pointless.

Which bit happened then

"In another world akanji goes down as one of the most hated city players. Inter capitalise on his mistake and go on to win, son scores after his mistake and we lose the league."

Some just go out of their way to hate players that were a part of winning a treble and 4 in a row. Might be how you enjoy supporting City, not for me though.

£15m was a steal, compare that with the world's most expensive defender, the £80m Slab.
Akanji has been an important part of our overall success the last 4 years and should be remembered so for it.
I wish him all the best for the next stage of his career

Yeah one of those players who filled gaps and never really nailed down a place. But it's harder to maintain form if you are a squad man playing in various positions and he's done that role as well as anyone could expect. And at £15m a bargain.

Will possibly be forgotten over time but a great servant and deserves the medals.

It's not hating a player haha! He's given an example of what would have happened if Ederson hadn't saved Akanji.

You're easily the biggest "Im right youre wrong and you're not a proper fan unless you're super positive all the time" guy on here, along with that other whopper that's liked your comment. Akanji isn't reading this, it's okay.

If you want to go through every big game we won finding individual mistakes and missed chances then saying what if, crack on.

5 central defenders of which 2 can’t be trusted to stay fit for prolonged periods.
My point exactly mate. Someone on here said they’d rather have Rodri at centre half than Akanji.

The irony being that we are even struggling to keep Rodri fit.

For a deal to happen three conditions must be met:

1. City are willing to go into next season with the same number of CBs as last season (Khusa for Akanji), 2 of them being injury prone...(Reis, if he is recalled, is inexperienced at that level)

2. Akanji is ready to go to the Turkish league

3. Galatasaray are ready to pay what it takes

It is doubtful any of the conditions is going to be met. With the option we have to recall Reis, 1. is the condition most likely to be satisfied (if Pep agrees, which is not certain). Further, if Akanji is ready to leave, he might go to another English club or, say, Italy or Germany. Galatasaray seem unwilling to pay 15m for a top keeper, their willingness to pay what it takes to sign a CB in his prime from one of the best clubs in the world is highly doubtful.

I'll be surprised if this happened.

Just your reply was to someone saying 4 central defenders, just pointing out it’s 5.

No squad in reality can include naming 6 senior pros at central defence, it just means you are going to be short elsewhere.

Done the job he was signed to do very well, but his performances have dipped, we have both too many centre halves and too many foreign players in the squad and he fits both of those criteria so becomes the most expendable. His performances have been declining for a while and while I thank him for his performances in a City shirt I feel its time to cash in.

A value for money signing who is not at the level of two years ago.

I feel as though Akanji has become a little lazy…….he has always been prone to concentration lapses but since the treble season this has become more prevalent.

No problem with him staying if he is part of the squad but not at the expense of starting in front of Gvardiol or Khushanov….who should be the first calls should Stones or Dias not be available.

I’m not sure whether we can call back Reiss immediately should there be injuries ……if so then we should covered in the centre back positions.

I think 5 CB are enough. How many do we need agtually? 7? Because 2 are injury prone? Even better for Khusanov. Gvardiol is rarely injured too and if we got 5 options the injury prone ones won’t need to play that much. Ideal situation. There’s teams who have 4 even 3.
