A year to the day.

It's like looking into a particularly unpleasant mirror.

Some should learn from their knee jerk proclamations of defeat and incompetence.

Come on-You can't dredge last season up. He should have learnt from that. Has he?

If Fat Sam comes out in the media telling the world how easy it was to sot our weakness etc then something is not right.
He is a good manager, however I personally don't feel he has learnt anything from the defeats we sustained last season.
Europe? I am not giving up hope however if he doesn't pack the midfield against CSKA,Bayern and Roma then I think we all know the outcome

Actually, in that thread, you're adamant that 'facts are facts' and mancini was/is a better manager than MP...... nonsense on reflection

As pointed out, we steadily improve as the system becomes familiar to the newly introduced. This season will be no different to the last, its following the exact same mantra so far.... Yaya pre derby last year, panned, yaya post derby???????

Asking for time for a man who delivered/managed our most successful period in the modern game seems somewhat silly to me, but hey, give him time!!!!!

Thanks Zin. I also thought it was pretty instructive to have a look at a thread from exactly 12 months ago in which the same posters were saying much the same things as they're saying now. Only difference is we won the fucking double in between that one and this one! :)

Poor run. We'll get a point at best from the derby (sadly I think the shite will knick a win). Overall from what I've seen up to now I can't see us winning anything this season. Our being 2nd in the league shows the paucity of the league rather than how great we are. I think it all lies squarely with the manager and if we continue in this vein he'll be gone by summer.

1. Our record against the rags in recent times is excellent and they haven't won away all season, your being extremely pessimistic.
2. Overall we're doing better than we were at this point last season and we won two trophies. Chin up.
3. We aren't 2nd in the league (you're giving us too much credit there).
4. Paucity isn't really the right word... it refers to small in quantity and the league is as large as it was last season... Quality hasn't altered much either. Last season we lost to Villa, Cardiff, Sunderland and drew with Stoke early doors.
5. Same manager you can blame for last seasons results. He'll be here this time next year.

The only difference I can see from last year is that the posters are different. Well at least one of them is.

I think it is fair to say that Pellegrini has had more criticism on here over the last week than anytime since about a year ago. The lowest point of the season (and meltdown on here) was the away loss at Sunderland which was the 4th away loss out of the first 6 away games. This, of course, had followed on from the Munich at home debacle a few weeks earlier.

Here is a list of 15 selected away games since that defeat at Sunderland a year ago:

2013/2014
3-2 West Brom
1-1 Southampton
4-2 Fulham
3-2 Swansea
1-1 Blackburn (FAC)
2-0 Newcastle
3-0 West Ham (LC)
5-1 Spurs
0-0 Norwich
2-0 Palace
3-2 Everton

2014/2015
2-0 Newcastle
4-2 Hull
2-0 Villa
2-2 CSKA ( CL)

So that’s 15 games – 11 Wins 4 Draws and 0 losses. These are ALL the away games between Sunderland a year ago and the loss at West Ham at the weekend when Pellegrini has STARTED WITH 2 UP FRONT. Yep, the dreaded 442 he has repeatedly been slagged off for.

One other interesting stat from those 15 games was that we only ever fell behind in one of them, Everton, and that was for just 10 minutes or so. That is 10 minutes out of over 22 hours of football.

Sure, it has been a poor season so far and some criticism is valid but slagging him off for 442 and making him out as some sort of stubborn, tactical dinosaur is just rubbish IMO. Bear in mind he has increasingly started with a 1 for the more difficult games in addition to the short spell when his hand was forced. (For the record, there have been a further 9 away games in the last 12 months where he has started with 1 up top - Bayern, Leicester, Barcelona, Hull, United, Arsenal, Liverpool from last season and Arsenal and Bayern this season)

Hopefully this allays some of the shit thrown at him for using 442 away from home in the last 12 months of what has the been the most succesful sequence of away results in the entire history of Manchester City Football Club.

It's a typical flappers coping mechanism

Sorry folks, just how I feel at the moment. We don't look anywhere near our best at present. Previous Derby results mean nothing. Last season's results mean nothing. It's all about where we are now and right now we look apathetic, naive and even aimless for spells of games.

The manager seems content to sit on his hands and stroke his chin for too long before seeing we are getting exploited on the left or overrun in midfield.

I think if we turn up for the derby with this same mentality, attitude or approach we will cop a shoeing.

More than delighted to have a litre of custard with my humble pie if proved wrong but I just cannot see it being the case as things currently stand.
