Last year he felt compelled to criticise the referee after two games: Barcelona at home and Liverpool away. Clattenburg has twice put in performances where, I believe, he has attempted to let the game flow, but in doing so he has subsequently found himself unable to control the fixture and not penalised fouls properly.

Can't see him officiating any of our fixtures against the top teams, now. At least I hope not.

You've hit the nail on the head amidst the hand wringing. He tries so hard to let big games flow, and not ruin them with niggly fouls or red cards, that he lets game-changing incidents go and that leaves one party very aggrieved. Unfortunately this has been us several times now.

Nobody wants tense games spoilt. But he has got the balance wrong several times now.

He's a strange one, there's a lack of consistency in judgement that is only really explained by the rumours, but outside of that I think he's one of the best referees, if not the best, and I oddly, as a grassroots ref, admire his approach, it's just the "dodgyness" and thus the inexplicable decisions he sometimes gives that mean you can't trust him, and that's ultimately the biggest crime against a ref in performance terms, if you can't trust them.

Got a big couple of months coming up if we fail to get through the group stages of the champions league and fall well behind in the league I think the decision will be taken to find a replacement to take over in the summer. Hope it doesn't come to this!

I don't want to see another manager leave but if he fails to get out of the group he will leave, plenty of managers can win the league with City but only a few can win the Champions League.

I love his football but I question his tactical and team selection decisions at times.

I really hope he can turn it around because he did make us a better team last season and got us playing some superb football winning a double.

Football management is ruthless though.

Apart from playing to deep last night thought his tactics were spot on but team selection wasn't milner was a must for that game either central or out on the left! I'm getting a bit fed up of saying he'll learn by his mistakes only got a couple left!

In case this scenario happens who is there suitable enough to replace him with,i would love to see klopp or diego simone over here, but it seems highly unlikely in the near future.

with the squad we have, we shouldn't be playing negative football in europe. just no. so underwhelming to watch.
