Marc-Andre ter Stegen

Apologies for defending our number 1.

I'll try not to pull a Ter Stegan, or as you put it "shit my pants", over such nonsense speculation.

Don't blame you for defending Hart. He's been terrific for us and I hope he adapts to Pep's demands.

Just don't see what mistakes from years ago have anything to do with now.

You, I hope, have stopped soiling your pants as the years have progressed, while Ter Stegen has blossomed into a very adept footballing goalkeeper.

I still don't grasp your idea of soiling one's pants. If by that you mean believing the club won't spunk £60m+ on a keeper, who wants first team football in every competition and wouldn't recieve that here, equates to "shitting your pants" then I've followed through something fierce.

Mangala and Nasri were to be world beaters under Pep and both look to be gone. Why were they bigged up? Because they just needed coaching apparently. Whereas Hart hasn't a hope of being coached by all means. He's immune to such things.

Ter Stegan didn't develop over night nor by himself. De Gea didn't go from one of the worst to the best 'keeper in the league in the same manner either.

There has been no concrete link to Hart leaving or being allowed to leave, unlike those deemed not good enough.

A good point, perhaps you should follow that thought through:

Everyone though Mangala just needed coaching from Pep in order to fit the new style of play.... but now he's halfway out the door because Pep obviously disagreed with our optimistic assessment.

You think Joe just needs coaching from Pep in order to fit the new style of play....

Perhaps had you read to the bottom instead of carefully editing your quote.

Reading comprehension on this site seems to be plunging by the day. You're arguing with me on matters on which I've not expressed an opinion while somehow not understanding a fairly simple analogy. Have at it, chaps. I'm orf.

I don't know why people keep going on about his release clause. I know Barca have said that's what it will cost but we've not been linked in any way with paying that amount. It would obviously be crazy to spend that kind of money but there's been no evidence that we're even contemplating doing so

Because people who are dead set on Hart staying out of sentiment can use ter Stegen's £63m release clause as a reason to say ter Stegen shouldn't be signed.

Yes, Joe has been fucking shit for us, the only reason anyone would want him to stay is out of sentiment.

I never said Joe has been shit for us. In fact if you've read through the thread Iv'e said multiple times that I'll be sad to see him go, he's been a great servant, but we've gone in a different direction.

Yes the only reason to want him to stay is sentiment.

You want him rather than a goalkeeper everyone knows suits guardiola's game better. Why? because of what he's done in the past for us - sentiment.

You want him to get time to try and adapt, while the team flounders because we don't have a keeper good enough with his feet.

Short version for everyone:
1. Joe Hart is an amazing keeper for practically all other managers, except for Pep.
2. Our manager is Pep.
3. End of story.

Short story for you..."I will forgive if the players cannot get it right, but not if they do not try hard" Pep Guardiola
Which part of Joe Harts game has lead you to the conclusion he won't try hard?

Hart didn't play like Pep wanted him to against Arsenal, he was booting it down the pitch, while Caballero made mistakes but was at least trying to play out. In the Dortmund game, Gunn was the same. He made mistakes, but he tried, and it lead to chances for us when it worked.

I'm not sure Pep's going to appreciate his instructions being ignored.

45 minutes of a preseason friendly, without our 1st or even 2nd defence....but again, which part is that Joe not working hard?

I think you're talking absolute bollocks if you think the only possible reason people want Joe to stay is out of sentiment.

I don't think Pep will be 'angry' at Joe that he can't pass. It's not Joe's fault - he's just a different type of keeper. But do you honestly think Pep won't replace Joe forever as long as Joe tries hard? Please.

I think he will be pissed off that Hart stopped trying to what Pep clearly wanted us to do - pass it out from the back. Better to make mistakes trying to do the right thing than to ignore what the manager is telling you.
