Marc-Andre ter Stegen

Not true. He saw ter Stegen when he came to see Barcelona completely dominate us in 14/15 on the way to the treble.

And given his obsession with football, and the fact he's a Barcelona fan, I expect pep has seen him quite a few times over the last few
Years.

Didn't dominate us as much as they dominated Bayern though...Entirely because of the 6'5 Englishman in between our sticks ;)

Anyway he would of mostly watched them on tv and therefore he won't have an encyclopedic knowledge on Ter-Stegen unless he has had him scouted etc.

And he would have had him scouted before coming up against him.

The only time Pep will have seen him is when Barca drubbed Bayern 5-2agg

What about the 2 times Bayrn played against Monchengladbach in 2013/14?

Add that to the 2 games vs. Bayern in 14/15 and the time he watched Barca beat us.

So we know pep has watched him for a minimum of 5 games.

We are not going to sign this kid,he is the younger one of him and bravo so barca will want to keep him imo,all the bashing of joe is very disappointing,he has had a week or so training yet he is being written off already

Sorry Karen we've known for three years his distribution is poor and he can't save a beach ball down to his left

All goalies have faults and we have no idea what he can do with different training and there is a lot of assuming he can't do it,he deserves more than the shit some posters are giving him

Video of Every single professional performance of ter Stegens career will be available to Pep's analysis team.

They probably only analysed his games from that season, many of which you or I could watch right now. Anyway not sure how much emphasis or time you put into looking at a goalkeeper, other than putting together a brief overview(strengths, weaknesses and things like penalties), especially when your main priority is probably how you contain Messi et al.

Im sorry but the idea that a bit of training is going to make up for nearly 30 years of not playing the way Pep wants his keepers to play is ludicrous.

Hart hasn't just "not been coached" to play that way, he's actually been coached to do the exact opposite.

You might as well say a bit of training could turn Jesus Navas into a centreback.

You'll see tomorrow. Either hart will be very dodgy playing the ball out, or even worse, he won't try it.

Yeah good shout, didn't think of the bayern/borussia crossover. Was man of the match in a 2-0 loss in one of those.

That is the kind of distribution Pep is probably looking for. Can anyone honestly look at it, and say Hart is capable of the same? Even though i like Hart...i can't.

By no means do I think Joe Hart is beyond reproach and I accept there are arguments in favour of having a goalie more capable of playing out from the back, but this whole Joe Hart not being able to save balls to his left thing needs knocking on the head now. It's based on a couple of high profile mistakes and seems to be quite a fashionable thing for a would-be clever clogs to bring up these days. He's made plenty of world class saves during his career to his left and his shot stopping abilities aren't really in question.

Of course he would be dodgy at it as is willy,it's new. There is no point talking to you because you have set your mind against him already,to me they all start with a clean slate and if they can't do it they will be out of course but they all deserve the chance to get it

Sorry to chime in here as a neutral, but some of these comments are just... do you really think a highly paid team of analysts like Guardiola's can't find the time to scout a reasonable number of games played by a goalkeeper he considers signing? There are only a handful of them known for having good footballing skills, Ter Stegen one of the most prominent of them. I wonder what your idea of professional scouting is. Getting a couple of video tapes is not rocket science.

It can't be coached within a couple of weeks, you're quite right. It's debatable if it can be coached at all, at least from a certain age onwards. German goalies have been trying to just "learn" that for years, because it's become a requirement to break into the German national team. With little success, other than the entertainment of the crowds, causing hilarious mistakes.
