The only thing I can’t fathom is the selling of Zinc before any LB was confirmed.

Any decent club would have the foresight for it and this is City, juggernaut of a football club who is ran excellently by few people should have not sold Zinc.

So it’s a mistake and let’s move on from there.
It would have been totally fine if we would go back to Zinc and say Dude Cucu deal ain’t happening. We will depend on you for this season too. A professional and lovely you like Zinc would have agreed and we would have been fine.

This no left back situation with the season to start is a bit tricky and I wouldn’t want Pep finite energy to be spent again on figuring out our left backs.

Yeah by all means, treat Zinchenko like a dick holding the player back for his long time service to the club. The player wants out and doesn't want to wait whether Cucu or any incoming LB is coming or not.

Unlike some club and user on this forum, our club treating their player especially a good servant like Zinchenko very well and will not holding him back if he pushes for the move and we have a good price for him.

If we're at this point in a month's time then I'd agree, however, there is still plenty of time to get a left-back. I'd rather we had it sorted now, but we don't live in a perfect world. Cancelo has played plenty of games for us at left-back and will manage a few more. It's not every week he comes up against Salah and he certainly won't in the next four weeks. I'd rather the club take stock and not panic.

Nobody on here knows all the facts as to what has happened with valuations and limitations on what the club are prepared to pay for certain players.

What happens all the time on here somebody gives a snippet of what they believe and then are hounded if it doesn’t happen.

There are so many keyboard warriors on here who just love to try and make posters feel small.

All that happens is people with some information which I have no doubt shared in good faith, then decide the abuse back is not worth it and stop posting.

Sometimes it would be better for some if the transfer forum was only available once a player had signed the contact.

It wouldn’t matter. Apparently Cancelo can’t defend. Plus ever since Chelsea wanted him, Ake has turned into prime Maldini on here, so we are good to go.

Yes and don’t forget that Walker can play right back and fill in at left back at the same time. He has also played in goal before which frees Ederson up to cover right back. Meanwhile Laporte will be back in September and he can play in a mobility scooter on the left if needs must.

I wouldn’t be concerned if Bernardo was sold as McAtee can cover from Sheffield and if Chelsea up their bid for Ake just think of the cash we would have accumulated, then we would have around £300 million to buy whoever we wanted in January. We will be fine until then.

I can see an offer of £35 million including add ons for Bellingham would go in from us in the Jan window. If Dortmund played silly buggers with us though we should just walk away and use the money we have saved to buy Raum from Leipzig or Cucurella from Chelsea.

Another important point to note is that we have had a seamless pre-season campaign. Pep has had 2 games in America already and, for once, he was able to work with the whole squad except Laporte, Foden, Gundog and Stones but the other 6 turned up. Esbrand played at left back there don’t forget and going off his performances he could easily play the whole season because he is young and won’t get tired at any point. Just give the lad a chance.

I get what people are saying about injuries and the need for extra bodies what with the World Cup in the middle of the season but look I see it like this…we won’t get any injuries and, in the unlikely event that we picked some up, we just wouldn’t give the fit players a rest. If we played the same team each week the players would gain a greater understanding of each other and it’s not like Pep plays full strength teams in the cups as he clearly isn’t bothered about them.

Wanting a left back is raggish and spoiled. Yes we might have a smaller squad than every other club in the PL but Pep loves that. When did he ever mention a lack of players last season? Don’t think about the quantity just feel the quality mmmmmm it’s lovely.

Also knowing Laporte was still injured/recovering and missing for the first month or so, strange why we sold zinchenko

I do wonder how Pep feels at this time, if he has plans to play a certain way and is counting on getting certain targets and then this happens. I wonder if he bells Tixi and says look mate I’m good but i can’t work miracles down that side for nearly 70 matches.

Precedent suggests we should be calm. Missing out on transfers often proves a dodged bullet. Jorginho, Maguire, Ronaldo, Koulibaly, Kane... If I had to guess right now, I'd guess we get in a left-back who's largely agreed to be better than Cucurella three years from now. But then I still don't really get the Cucurella hype.
