With Sky Sports and Fabrizio Romano saying he's going to Chelsea and Brighton putting out an official statement that he's not going anywhere....WTF is actually happening now?

It's a very good question and we're not really sure our end either. Best guess is that we're trying to get a deal tied up for Colwill without buy back clauses or the like, but who can say.


We like doing our business on the quiet and I've never known a transfer like this where the twitterati are all over it day in day out for weeks.

I think clubs always try it on against City but so many of these negotiations come down to people's egos. I believe the Kane deal died when Levy briefed his pals in the press that "he wouldn't even pick up the phone when City called." In this case Brighton briefed the local media that "they were laughing in the boardroom when they saw City's offer." I am pretty sure that finished off any goodwill.
City's management are very sensitive about poisonous briefings to the media by other clubs...for obvious reasons. Let's see where Brighton finish in the league. Perhaps we will have the last and the loudest laugh.

Do you want to have a bet on which of our teams finishes higher in the league?

I think the snide tone is unhelpful. Strategic links are something else. I think broadly City are very discrete in their dealings.

It was a question. Not a snide tone at all.
In a discussion with Tolmie he said City use the Media( trusted reporters) when it suits them.
I do not know such things. But most people on the site seem to trust Tolmie as an insider with some knowledge.

It seems Cucurella to Chelsea is all but done bar the dotting of the i's & crossing of the t's.

I'd have loved Cucu to tell Brighton he's glad for them someone met their valuation, but he only wants City, but there's been nothing from the player or his camp to that effect so far.

Cucurella's probably surmised that he'd prefer City, but Chelsea wouldn't be a bad second choice either so he'd be OK with either club.

Personally I've moved on from the notion of Cucurella to City & am now focused on if we'll get a left back in time within this transfer window, & if so who?

Sosa's the name most seem to prefer as an alternative, so it'll be interesting to see if we act on that speculation or go through the season with 2 right backs & Aké & Wilson-Ebrand as other LB options as well as Cancelo. )(

Wonder how much playing time he'll get at Chelsea, if that's where he ends up. If Chilwell's fit it'll be a tough ask to displace him.

If he isn't actually better than Chilwell, I don't think I'd want us to sign him anyway.

I mean Chilwell is good, but in terms of our system, Cancelo and Zinchenko suit it far better. (Obviously now one of thems gone...)

No, I think it will happen, but with the Colwill deal either dead or completed. But I guess we don't want to lose any leverage whilst those negotiations are ongoing. Who knows.

If Cucu stays he'll be unhappy for a bit and then get on with it. It's Marc Cucurella, a happier soul you'd struggle to find on a football pitch. He's not Pogba, his character is part of the reason he's (a) good and (b) in demand.
