Didn't one of our ITKs (Matty? Sorry if it was someone else) say we'd made a £ + player bid for Cucurella and it had been rejected? If so, either our ITK isn't so ITK or Bloom is lying. Would love some clarification.

No need for clarification, we have to wait and see for the next few days.

@mattyb knows his shit and I think that's been pretty obvious for a while.

Depends when this interview was done, I guess? Maybe it was recorded just before the bid went in or maybe he is lying. Who knows.

I'm still a bit dubious this one will happen. The striker and holding midfield position, City definitely needed replacements and got them, as we had holes in the squad that needed filling.

The left back position I think is the icing on the cake for us but not a necessity. If we went into the season with Walker, Cancelo and Zinchenko, I think City would be OK with it. This is why I'm unsure if we'll spend £50m (possibly more if Brighton dig their heels in) on another left back after what has happened with Mendy. City have proven in the past they will walk away if the valuation is too high.

I hope we get him obviously as I think we do need someone, a more natural left footed player, but I'm just not sure whether we'll go big on it. Time will tell.

Agree about walking away, but I'd like to think we have plan b,c &d to fall back on before deciding to just do without an established lb (again).

You'll never get clarification mate, things change, if an ITK passes something on you don't have to believe them. Things do get lost in translation when passed form person to person.
It could easily have been City were preparing a bib of cash + player, I prefer just to enjoy the additional info true or not it's fun.
I think it's Mattyb and TolmiesHairdoo who are probably the most reliable on here they quite often get things right, but it is just conjecture and speculation.

City will know the price. The fact that we haven’t moved on makes me think we are prepared to pay it. Now watch us sign the Wolves lad tomorrow!

Isn’t the way normally chars behind the scenes sorting the deal out and then the bid as you say is made knowing it will be accepted? I sense it will be another £50m fullback though

93.20blue is also very reliable but doesn't post as much.

I believe a bid has been made can't see why he would publicly talk about transfer details. If he answered yes he would have alot of questions about the offer and his valuation from the reporter and the player especially if the player thinks his valuation is unreasonable.

Some quotes from bloom which are more encouraging imo.

Bloom also refused to be drawn on Cucurella’s future despite interest from City, adding: “I’m not going to speculate on individual players we may or may not get bids for.

“The fact that there is speculation and there is interest in our players, I always view that as a positive. It hasn’t always been like that.

“There’s less than three or four clubs where some of the players are not for sale.

“We’ve got to be realistic if a certain bid comes in and the player wants to move, the player will move, but we are not anticipating, we’re not looking for our best players to move on.

“If it happens and we get a bid then we have to consider it, but until that point, we carry on.”

Couldn’t disagree more. With ake seemingly off as well this position has become a necessity. Last season playing stones at rb cost us a place in the champions league final.

We need another full back we cannot go into next season with Walker, cancelo and zinchenko as the full back options it’s proven that it isn’t enough depth.

I only pass on stuff I know or trust is accurate mate.

I think over the years I’ve become relatively reliable, but then again there are people on here who believe I’m full of shit!

You were probably totally right about that info. Although i dont think people understand that City talk with clubs and dont make public bids like the rags does, hence Blooms comments. They are probably in deep talk and just slowly awaiting Sterlings transfer to go through.

It seems like it's a 5-10m difference between City and Brighton. It'll get there, imo.

Thanks for the info, Matty.

Most of us appreciate the info, something many can’t grasp is that transfers are not like they are on football manager, they’re complicated, involve many people and things change all the time.

Thanks for taking time to send any updates.

Lying? Why do people think that anyone involved at a club from the tea lady up are obliged to update fans about anything whatsoever. We've become a very needy society.

(is the term "tea lady" sexist and not allowed nowadays BTW? :) )

Since when does City "bid" for players in public? As always City operate in conversation with club and only bid when theres a verbal agreement. Odd thing to ask when both of these facts can be true at the same time...

Tony can say he's not got an official bid while there could be a verbal offer from City.
