Potter is an excellent coach and they play some decent football. A loan to Brighton where McAtee gets some game time in the PL would not be a bad move.Brighton isn't the worst of clubs to loan McAtee out to but the problem is how much game time he would really get.

McAtee looks a real prospect. No disrespect to Brighton but he can learn more training with the first team. If he’s good enough he will thrive. Foden did. If he can’t reach that level then he won’t be with us..why? I'd loan out McAtee either way.
people are wary of the "loaning" stuff by saying they never return to the first team - but we never loan to a premier league team, so this is different. he has every chance to come back to the first team.

Hot take but I think foden would have been just fine with a one year loan in the PL as well! Sure, it worked out great as is, but I think it would have worked out just as well had he been loaned in 18/19.McAtee looks a real prospect. The issue with loans is that unless they are stars, the loaning club won’t play them much as they’d rather develop their own youngsters.I am not so sure even with Graham Potter in charge but still an opportunity.
Brighton is a better for McAtee than Southampton though.

Zinchenko is not at our level in midfield. McAtee may get there..Well if Zinchenko wants to stay that central slot isn’t open for anyone younger. A loan to bring the fee down is ideal for all parties

You can’t compare any young player we have to foden. He’s a once in a generation talent. If every young player doesn’t follow the same route as foden that doesn’t mean they won’t make it.
He needs to play and get minutes, which foden was getting
