As they should. I don't understand the angst I see regarding how Brighton fans feel. They shouldn't want their best player sold. And they don't! This is normal.

What's abnormal is City fans feeling aggrieved by their stance or attitude.

I feel exactly like a Brighton fan as it relates to Bernado and Barcelona. My attitude is fuck them. And I hope they rot. But that's just me. So I can't turn around and get all smug if a Brighton fan isn't happy with our swooping.

I believe it would get done. But Im okay with any emotions Brighton fans have :)
As I said, it's just Reddit. I don't really mind it although the "oil club war criminals" nonsense gets a bit old.

He is Brightons player. Just like Bernardo is our player. If we want him we should pay them.
Please don’t make us blues sound like the self righteous rags and dippers
It’s not being self righteous. I just said we don’t need him. We can hang on or go elsewhere. I just said we won’t pay over what we think he’s worth. It is business not a charity. We should only pay what we think is right, not what any other club thinks.

I see Brighton in a strong position. I wouldn’t be angry at Brighton for not selling in the same way I would want us to keep say Bernardo away from Barca. We can’t have it both ways.

I never know how much truth there is in the theory a price is agreed between the clubs but they then pretend it isn’t to keep the fans happy. Maybe that’s the way with some Serie A clubs but I doubt it with two PL clubs.
I have no problem with Brighton valuing their player & sticking to it. We will value him slightly less & will be amazed at City only bidding 30m with no add ons, Ogden is a clickbait revenue chaser so this narrative suits his needs.
According to these no marks in the media
Gundogan was leaving, Phillips was £60m & Chelsea opening bid for Sterling was £35m.

Thats only recently

What are the realistic alternatives?

Not overly keen on Sosa from the little I've seen of him. Raum has looked good the couple of times I've watched him but neither of them look great defensively and that's something I was looking forward to with Cucurella.

Are there any other well rounded options out there?

Well Luke Pie Man Shaw could be one.

It is... you are right but Brighton valuing him in the elite bracket at £50m will have longer term consequences.

OK, this is crazy, but just consider this scenario for a second. Just bear with me.
City and Brighton have done all the work behind the scenes. It was kept watertight. Not Naylor, not Romano, not anybody, is in on it. The working price is already agreed on. Bloom asks — or City suggests — put in a really low bid in the first instance, publicly. We will of course reject it out of hand, very publicly. You will go up. We will reject again. Some hard negotiations appear to be going on. Another bid, we reject.
All of this a publicly played out piece of theatre.
When City get publicly to the price that was already agreed on privately, we, Brighton and Hove Albion, I, Tony Bloom, will grudgingly accept. Face has been saved all round. City get their man. Brighton get their wodge of money. Their fans are happy because they've been seen to be tough negotiators.
Just musing on that this afternoon as an alternative way of reading everything that's going on.
But anything less than £50m people will say Bloom gave in to city demands. That will work well whenever a player is wanted at Brighton just lowball an offer and we can say that you managed to get as much as possibke for him.

We know Pep is keen on Cucu and wants him however maybe your board are not convinced he is worth the price tag, no player is worth what they are sold for. Your board may have said ok Pep we will try but were not paying the full price, you low ball Bloom says no you come back with a slightly better offer thats rejected, you walk away and say sorry Pep we done our best.

Some on hear think its a done deal, i dont think so, i think Bloom will go down to £40 to £45 million plus addons to take it above 50.

I agree .
But my point how it's different from us keeping Bernardo. We aren't keeping Bernardo solely for money but because we don't have his replacement lined up yet. In our recent history if a half decent offer arrives and player wants to go it's not about money anymore.
Very true..

Most transfers are done way before the press get wind of the deal/price
There could be many reasons for a delay
Price, replacements being negotiated ,et etc
I personally think it will get done and it will be a fair price all round

Fucking hell City just go out and buy a £50m left back, quickly, and ideally one that’s good on FIFA. There’s posters in this forum about to go on milk and cookie bedtime hunger strike if we don’t get one NOW

Do you guys ever get bored of posting slight variations of the same comments again and again for years on end?

I think Raum is the best of them. He was always my choice even before Cucurella. That’s if you don’t count the lad at Bayern who we can’t get!

I think he’s a good learner and Pep would sort him out where he could improve. He can’t have that many deficiencies if he plays for Germany sometimes.

What is a fair price? No player goes for a fair price. Every club will will have a price that they put on a players head, so far Brighton want £50m. Overpriced yes can you get Bloom to lower i dont know.

I think plenty of players go for a fair price…particularly as it’s subjective.

Are Bloom and Benham still enemies or have they made up?
