I still don't get why we only offer £40million plus add-ons when Brighton have publicly said its £50million bottom line

OK, Brighton may have over egged the price at £50million but how much is the room with our offer of £40million with add-ons, £10million of add-ons is far too much even if we win Champions League and titles over 5 years works out to £2million a year

just go and wave the cash at £45million take it over leave it and i bet they take it

Because £40m plus add one looks better on the books for FFP than £45m-£50m right off the bat. Player bonuses don’t count towards FFP, you could assume a similar thing exists with payment bonuses?

Brighton have never said it’s £50m at any point in this deal mate.

The media are saying £50m, sure - but you won’t find anything from either Brighton or Bloom mentioning any figure at any point.

Not to mention that folding to Brighton’s demands makes it harder in the future to pay what we want.

Maybe because he’s decent but not £50M good? Get some reality, he’s ok, but he isn’t going to massively change our season whether he signs or not. Who cares, if we don’t sign him something will come up, we are not in the 80s when we he we had no idea or strategy.

The difference between two and three top-level full-backs is massive, to be fair. I don't see a Plan B that seems close to Cucurella, statistically, and premier-league-ready.
 
Arguably, Brighton see Cucu as a better and more important player for them than Ben White. And we as fans probably agree that Cucu is the better player. It would be surprising and even suspicious if they didn't want 50m for Cucu. He's probably a bit expensive from our perspective, but from Brighton's? The quality of their play may suffer significantly without him.

Would be surprised if we signed him for 40m. Cucu's a fundamental player for them. Be interesting what happens this week. If there's no news, we will move on, imo.

Ben White was loaned out to Leeds

never a chance of Cucurrella being loaned out

they value him high and we have to pay close to the price they want or move on
