We had 3 primary targets this summer it seems. Haaland, Phillips and Cucurella? I imagine Pep will be asked why he wants these, what can they bring to the team etc and how vital each one is? If he pushes for it then I think txiki and khaldoon will do it for him to be honest as it’s a hugely important position in a pep team that can’t just be filled by anyone

If Pep tells Txiki Cucu is comparable in quality to Cancelo and Walker, we go and buy him, even at 55m. It's that simple. Maybe we look for a squad player, not a first choice LB.

Trust in the communication between Pep and Txiki. They want to show we can improve on the squad options without paying silly money. Pep will be happy with other options, Cucu is not the One.

Just wondering if we should look at this differently and look for a right back. We have Joao and Josh for left plus Nathan can play it, that just leaves Kyle whos 32 now and young Lewis for the right back spot. Could argue thats more pressing is we think Joao is better on the left.
I had wondered about this. A good shout. But Josh, as good as he looked, would concern me if we relied on him. He was caught out of position on several occasions. He was strong going forward and when facing up 1-1. Positionaly he isn't there yet.

Andy Naylor at it again. Saying nothing changed and Brighton won't be bullied . Doesn't mention anything about second offer , if sent

The noises coming out from Brighton after the first bid were to rebuke the fact that he had been unsettled and that he was happy, so which is it?

I would imagine our latest bid would be a take it or leave it scenario, with a deadline of the west ham game

if not, move onto the next target.

no way is he worth more than £50m , they are deluded to think so

and keep quoting the scenario with Arsenal and Ben White - we‘re not Arsenal , we’re not desperate to gamble big money on a maybe

Hopefully resolved in the next week or so, could get messy if Cucurella is desperate for it to happen.

Thats a good point. If a player really wants a move they request a transfer costing them contractual bonuses.
As he's only been there for 1 year of a 5 year contract, you'd think that the prospect of not receiving his pro rate temperis payment of the loyalty bonus would pale into insignificance of the potential of such a move (and, what you'd think would be an increased salary).

I repeat 'you'd think'.

Reading the article not sure why Andy naylor is so bitter about this whole thing. Like a fanzine writer rather than a professional journalist.

Disappointing to read we are no nearer striking a deal however, that opening bid really was stupid
Almost all of their writers are
