Marc Guehi | Staying at Palace

Seemed a thinly veiled excuse IMO, plenty of other footballers stick it on and don’t feel the need to comment or draw attention away from the LBGTQ+ community. His dad came out and said some questionable remarks at the time too. This thread has nothing to do with the Ipswich captain but fuck him too.
It’s also therefore nothing to do with his dad is it ?
Lots of things my dad did I didn’t agree with

He'd be a great signing, but I can't see us giving Dias a new contract and then signing a new CB, especially when we've already got 7 on the books. Admittedly a few of those are getting a bit long in the tooth now. But you'd assume we were planning for a Dias-Gvardiol first choice pairing.

Its if akanji and ake both leave we are getting guehi

If we hadn’t of bought Khusanov (who never plays) Reis and Bah (who are out on loan) sold Akanji we wouldn’t be far off the price for Guehi and Livramento. Which would also take pressure off the Homegrown quota for a couple of seasons

We can afford both Guehi and Livramento without having to sell anyone. The problem is, of course, that Livramento won't leave Newcastle this summer and Guehi is pretty well set on going to Liverpool.

I think that Khusanov could be brilliant for us anywhere across the defence. He'd be our best RB choice currently. His constant omission is very concerning.

We also wouldn’t pay the £80m Newcastle wanted but pay £80m for 3 players that never play as for Guehi if we where on the ball we could of start tapping him up before Liverpool instead we bought 3 centre backs that never play

I do find it baffling.

Bah is the kind of signing we make just for profit, so I'm not surprised by that one.

Khusanov is just a very odd one. He showed a lot of positive signs last season and has the pace necessary to play in a high back line. We've always played a high line but had Walker to cover. We don't have that now, so to consistently leave out our fastest defender (maybe even our quickest player) makes no sense to me. It's not just his speed, it's his aggression and tenacity. Khusanov is a seriously good player.

I don't understand the Reis situation either. He cost us £29.5m, but this is a fee too high to be a just-for-profit signing. He's out on loan and loanees never come back to be a success. Maybe this is the one that bucks the trend.

I'll reserve judgement until 1st September, but right now, it's all over the place. Busiest week of Hugo Viana's life.
