Marco Reus

Now that Real have Bale there's no way they'd replace him with Reus, like I said Bayern is my only worry.
Why wouldn't they? Madrid are the club that get rid of superior players for inferiors players on a whim and Reus is actually superior to Bale. Not to mention Reus has a great record against them. They tried to get him last time before they got Bale. If Reus has another great CL then don't see why they won't be in for him.

There are alternatives. Max Meyer may be worth having a closer look at if we don't land Reus.
Meyer has not yet done anything unlike Reus and is nothing like him. Meyer is a similar player to Gotze, but slower and worse at dribbling.

Draxler is the most similar German player to Reus, but he does not have a great attitude (in my opinion), is too casual when he plays and has not progressed like he should have done.

Well if the 28m kicks in next season there won't be just us in for him he'll have a choice of Chelsea arsenal Liverpool and the rags

Ronaldo will be 30 next summer, but i reckon he could continue playing till around 33. Bayern might be the biggest threat as ribery and robben are both ageing.

Think he would be perfect for our club, really would be an exciting player to have. Hate to see him at the rags though

Haven't Bayern tried to get him several times now and Reus himself has shot it down? I'd be surprised if he ended up with them.

Reus is Dortmund fan, might be.
Born and bred, we don't need to worry about Bayern. Gundogan is Schalke, so we might want to get in for him too.

I also don't think Rumminigge (I think it was him) would have come out publicly mentioning the value of Reus' buyout clause, if Bayern thought they had a chance of getting him they would have kept any potential deal on the quiet, especially considering the low cost of Reus' buyout.

If we want him we are going to have to put in a big sales pitch because most of the top teams in Europe will be putting the money of that buyout clause on the table next summer.

You never know he might want to stay, he is Dortmund born and bred like you said!

Afaik he was interested in coming here before but chose BVB, that might give us the edge if he believes he can't win trophies there.

2011:

Manchester City technical director Mike Rigg admits they're watching Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Marco Reus.

Rigg has confirmed his interest in Reus, 22.

Rigg said: "He is one of the most talented players in Germany and we have often watched him."

Reus has a reported £15.4million buy-out clause in his contract that takes effect from the summer.
