Marcos Lopes

Hope he and Boyata get another start on Saturday. More time on the pitch will boost their confidence further.

Just got to love the OS perspective: "clipped the crossbar" indeed :-)

After his display on Tuesday, against a strong West Ham side, I would like to think that Marcos could be given a start in one of our League games against the likes of Fulham or Stoke, as well as on Saturday.

The lad proved he has the ability and the attitude to succeed; now is the time to let him prove it.

Thought he was excellent last night...not just his skill on the ball but with the positions he was taking up particularly between the lines. His work ethic was excellent and he was winning the ball against much stronger players.....he should have a very bright future as along as he keeps his feet on the ground.

I don't think we should be looking to loan the lad out at all...I think we should be looking to give the lad experience here off the subs bench when we can in games....and even in the FA cup (dependant upon opponent)....there is no reason he cannt come on in games in the prem (at home) for the last 15-20 mins if we are looking comfortable....playing next to yaya ferd and silva will be the best experience he can get

Judging from Pellegrini's post-match interview he won't be loaned out. He's already in the plans and will be getting game time. I think a lot of Premiership clubs would love to loan him but we're better keeping him. In his one start he'sdone more than any of the 'prospects' who have been lauded for years now.

He's tenacious and willing to put a foot into a challenge. He's got a sweet first touch as per his assist and the back-heel the other week. He's also got a mature awareness of those around him and his position in amongst them.

Why loan him out ? He's a ready-made replacement to start against the mid-table Premiership teams or to come off the bench for the last 20 minutes against better opposition to add energy and to give things a different look or to give somebody like Silva or Nasri a rest in readiness for the next game.

And to be fair, he couldn't have done much more. If you bring a youth team player into the first team you want him to make a positive impression. Well, he did that in spades and deserves the opportunities that are hopefully coming his way.

If a player of Lopes' obvious qualities doesn't start to get this type of game time then there's not much point in having an academy set up.

He needs to play games, undoubtedly talented but if he doesn't get game time he wont develop, needs a loan move either now or in the summer because he is not going to get many games with us in the run in
Don't know about that, if I was milner I'd be worried.
I don't think so, Milner will continue his very important role in the squad, but Lopes proved on Tuesday that he can fill in for others in plenty of games, he'll soon get a game in the PL now, like a new signing, and very well manages by MP.

You make a good point about his early blips and how he's adjusted.

No matter what the rest of this season has to offer us in respect to success or failure, what are we going to be like next season when Pelligrini has really got to know the club inside out. I'm drooling already......!!
