Marcus Rashford lobbying govt to help vulnerable children

Its a bit like the “Abu Dhabi are sports washing” argument.

Smacks of sour grapes. And to have sour grapes that a kid is literally trying to feed other poor kids is just mad in my book. But okay it takes all sorts.

I genuinely didn't expect it.

I saw a story about a local lad using his influence and platform to help feed hungry local kids. I didn't once consider his motives until I noticed it in this thread.

To undertake such an initiative, is it even feasible to achieve properly without the aid of his management and PR team?

Pep had a PR team and during the time he was wearing the yellow ribbon. He still does. He is very publicly active in Catalonia. This whole silly argument that Rashford has PR people writing the tweets is a bit like saying Pep didn’t write his own tweets about the plight of the Catalonian political prisoners. Who cares.

And if you didn’t slag Pep off for his PR moves and his PR team then you’ll have to ask yourself why Rashford is different.

Probably not at all. Absolutely nowt wrong with it. The government have a team, even if it is dysfunctional, and they certainly have countless PR teams too.

It would greatly benefit the image of the "Rashford is a cynical fraud" camp if there wasn't such a correlation between people who are of that opinion and people who hold various other bitter middle aged/old bloke views.

Good on him. People can view at as a publicity stunt if they like, but if it gets kids in need regular meals they wouldnt get otherwise get then fantastic. Anything else doesnt really matter.

What about all the kids who don't have a grandmother to feed them?

You'd condemn them all to hunger all summer just to stop it getting "abused" - and by the way what does that even mean? It's a couple of quid a day for a crappy school lunch, it's nothing, unless it's the only proper meal you'll get all day and then it's everything.

If that is all they are getting then it is a bigger problem and perhaps Social Services should be stepping in. The current generation seem to take no responsibility for anything and when it goes to shit they demand the government do something. Everything about todays generation is about somebody else doing something and not about them taking responsibility.
Are you seriously saying that a child only has one decent meal a day and that is his school meal ? If you are, the problem is far bigger than the government simply providing that meal and serious questions need to be asked of our society.

It's not a publicity stunt. It's a great stand saying, just because I have a new arse, I haven't forgot my old one. Even proposing this step to take away food from our poorest children is a fucking disgrace.

He has put the bastards behind the 8 Ball and their response to young Rashford has been disastrous. They are hopeless. My only hope is the even people who voted for them are furious too.

This decision has broken through the bottom of the barrel. Good on Rashford. Well done son. Proud of you.

I said nothing about who wrote the letter, as it's completely beside the point. I'm more interested in what he's trying to achieve. Any initiative that aims to feed the hungry in general, but especially hungry children is a wonderful initiative that should both applauded and taken seriously. I have noted the views about the PR incentive, but if you're in dire straits in desperate need for help and someone offers you that help, would you really stand there and wonder about whatever PR motives the good samaritan has in his heart?
Look at all my posts please. l have said l hope his involvement causes the meals to be available but l am not sure all Samaritans are good in their intentions.
But a kid getting his grub is good and that's the main thing. The media will continue lavishing praise on anything red and it will piss me off. Thats how it works.
