Marcus Rashford lobbying govt to help vulnerable children

Shame the thread has gone in the direction it has. Ultimately, what Rashford is trying to do is a worthwhile, important thing which will benefit many many children.
Pointing out the PR side is probably a bit churlish under the circumstances and as I've been guilty of that when making my first post I suppose I've got to take my share of the blame.
The way some are being portrayed by certain posters for their opinions, doesn't sit well, or help the discussion.

I wonder how many posts there'll be about how it's just shameful fishing for PR...

I totally agree. I do not mind the attacks on me from other posters because I see it differently to them I will still open my big mouth and say what I believe.
Marcus Rashford cannot demand the Government do something when he plays for a morally bankrupt company. The press cannot justifiably back him when they refuse to question United about there tax avoidance and before anyone says what about City. If they were doing the same I would also slate them.
Actually I don't have a problem with what Rashford is doing. I think he is genuine and don't hold him responsbible for what his club have done. Rashford has always been active in his local community and has just taken that to another level. Many football clubs are run by morally bankrupt regimes (remember Peter Swales). The issue I have with United is they get a free pass from the media.

Look at all my posts please. l have said l hope his involvement causes the meals to be available but l am not sure all Samaritans are good in their intentions.
But a kid getting his grub is good and that's the main thing. The media will continue lavishing praise on anything red and it will piss me off. Thats how it works.

Do you have any reason at all to question Rashford's intentions though?

I'm glad we at least agree on the substance on what he's trying to achieve.

It's possible to be both. A bit of good PR for a worthwhile cause. I'd imagine an awful lot of good intentioned schemes are brought to us knowing both parties will benefit.
I suppose there's nothing wrong with that and it shouldn't detract from whatever good cause is in the spotlight.
