Said it was the most beautiful night of his life, which is a little disappointing.

The talent has never been in question, it's whether he feels motivated enough to do it on a consistent basis for us.

I can't help but think we are a stepping stone in his thinking.

He wants and needs the love of the Italian people, which is understandable, just give us everything you have got until that time.

I think its dawned on him that the Italian game is not able to afford his talents right now and the time to get on with it has now come.

I predict a huge season coming up for the lad and he will not disappoint.

I really hope so, mate!

A lot of line-ups from posters don't consistently put Balotelli in the permutations.

The Mario of last night starts every week and scores you 30 plus goals a season.

It's whether the Mario of last night also realises this.

Disagree with this.

If Joe Hart had said it was the most beautiful night of his life after starring in a semi final victory in the Euros would you be disappointed? People say things like that in the heat of the moment.

Also, he's on record numerous times stating that he'll be here for as long as Mancini is here. He even said that he doesn't want to go back to Italy and loves it at City in a post match interview

Mario just need referees which don't read tabloids

Don't talk shite,he just needed to play football, which he did, rather well.....

you are the ones who talk shite mate. if you cannot see how many times during a game he get fouled and bastard referees does nothing of it you really need good lenses.

every fucking player with a bit of character goes nuts when feel to not been honestly treated on the pitch

He does get treated unfairly but unfortunately, throwing tantrums and waiving your arms in the air screaming "mama mia" doesn't get you very far in the Premier league unless of course you play for the rags.

Ive seen signs of him maturing of late and once he realises that's all he needs, he will become one of the worlds best without a doubt and the refs will forget his petulant side.

-- Fri Jun 29, 2012 10:44 am --

Personally, Damo, yes, I would, if Hart had said something similar.

But that's only because outside of a World Cup Final, winning league titles with the last kick of the game, club football will always be more important, for me, anyways.

I did see his interview and how he says the City fans still love him, despite dumping England out.

He also ruled out a move to Milan and reports quote him as "I am in England, and will stay there for the moment."

I don't expect him to be here forever, but it's clear he has bigger aspirations.

Mario playing with a real connection, for this club, wow!

As I say, it's just heat of the moment things said right after an important moment for him.

As far as I'm concerned, this Euros has gone perfect for City. England (who had the most important City players in it) were knocked out early enough that they get a rest but late enough that they don't feel TOO disappointed, Silva isn't getting ran into the ground and Mario has got a new lease on life after getting hero worshipped in his home country instead of racist abuse.

Couldn't have written a better script for us.

Mario now has the perfect opportunity to create a new narrative amongst the media.

We saw and heard the first signs of the hypocrisy last night. If he can help Italy lift the thing, he will get some new breathing space.

Lescott has come out of this tournament with his rep enhanced, less so Nasri, although he and Clichy had decent showings.

It is Milner I fear for, the fashionable whipping boy. I think he has got enough about him, a top pro, to come out next season with a point to prove.

Mancini has to decide if the time has come to trust him and put him in Barry's spot when required, his best position.

I don't know why anyone is surprised or put out by his comments. He's been an Italian longer than he's been a City player, and most footballers never have the same connection to a club as it's fans. Club football is more important for us, but he's been seeking the acceptance of his own countrymen his whole life and now he may finally just have it. It's a pretty big deal.

Well said.
