Mario Balotelli

I think the fiasco against (us) Arsenal was overblown. From my perspective he was your biggest threat and looked the most likely to score, everyone else didn't turn up.

Man City played a poor game and were going to lose regardless of the sending off. Think losing Yaya Toure early in the game was the reason for your sub par performance.

He was also heavily criticized against Sunderland despite scoring two goals to win Man City what was a crucial point. Not many players get made the scapegoat despite scoring a brace.

Wow. Theres some perspective. Cheers for that mate.

That is the opinion of most Arsenal fans I spoke to after the game. Mind you, the ones I spoke to were the sensible ones because some of your fans were too busy being utter knobheads who were delighted that you'd just taken the title away from us - seriously, some Arsenal fans need to get over the fact that we've paid very good money to buy players in the very late stages of their contracts. Anyway, as I say, the decent ones barely mentioned the sending off as it happened very late on in the game and, as you say, the closest we came to scoring was from Balotelli - from an overhead kick. The City fans who blame Balotelli for that defeat boggle the mind. Why don't they blame Aguero? How many goals did he score? OR, try this for a fucking novelty - this one doesn't work amongst City fans because there is a section amongst our fanbase who insist Barry is the best player in our team, blame Barry for playing a shite pass to Pizarro in dangerous area of the pitch. No, no, blame Balotelli because he got sent off in the 89th minute AFTER the 87th minute Arsenal goal. So, those who hold the view that Balotelli somehow lost us that game, think, as we were without Silva and Yaya (for seventy minutes prior to the goal) - thus allowing us to be dominated in midfield, we were unable to score for 87 minutes, what makes you think a goal was a certainty in the next six? It's absolute moronic thinking to blame Balotelli for that defeat. I'd rather engage in discussions with amoeba than anyone who blames Balotelli for losing at Arsenal. It's from the Jamie Redknapp and Paul Merson school of football analysis; brainless cliched drivel.

Haha. Bent Arry says that he's always liked Balo, and tried to sign him (on loan) before we did.

Surprise, surprise.

For some reason Balotelli went into that game with a bad attitude.
He was kicking lumps out of Arsenal players from the start. He should have been sent off a lot earlier for a terrible tackle on one of Arsenals fullbacks.
Everyone knows what a great talent Mario is,but he still as a lot of growing up to do.
He was superb the other night, but he still picked up a stupid yellow card with over half the game to play.

So Mr A Proteus, what do you think of Balotelli's culpability for the Arsenal game?

"Well, I consider the hypothetical offences for which Balotelli could have been sent off are utterly irrelevant to the real result in which he was actually sent off in the 89th minute, two minutes after the Arsenal goal. At any rate, other players have to take responsibility for not scoring and certainly Gareth Barry does after playing a floaty ball to Pizarro - the type usually only played to wingers in acres of space, thus allowing Arteta to react and win possession within a second of Pizarro first touching the ball. Playing those types of ball infield also has the additional worry that a player may misjudge a bounce, especially on an away pitch and against a team that plays through the centre."

Thank you Mr A Proteus, that was an insightful contribution.

Players have bad games.
Mario went out to make sure he didn`t stay on the pitch for 90 mins.
Thank you Stevie Wonder, your opinion is noted.

Re: Mario Balotelli - "The City fans always want me"

Are we gonna have a season of Mario à la mode Germany? We've seen some glorious goals from Mario - the one against Villa season before last still lives in my mind's eye - and the hope that he can replicate his performance against the ship-jumper Boateng's mob, is beginning to swell inside and I ain't even laid hands on me ST yet!
