Mario Gomez

Gomez is a very good finisher but plz don't forget that he missed some important scoring opportunities against Real and Chelsea last year (semi-finals and finals, respectively). So, it's not like he is a sure thing if it is about capitalize on opportunities in important games.

You are complaining about Dzeko's working outside of the box? You should be glad to have such a striker. Gomez can disappear for the whole game without any usage for the team...you cannot afford that against top competitors. Just spend a look at the half-finals against Italy in the EC 2012.
Iirc, Dzeko always was a working striker (seen him at Wolfsburg). You will need such a type if you want to have a good working closing-down.

Don't forget that scoring in a team with Robben, Müller and Ribery isn't very difficult. Anyone can do this.

Hopefully the same would go for Silva, Aguero, Navax, Yaya,Isco

Depending on the fee he could be a great signing. An actual target man who will stay upfront without drifting from his position to get a touch of the ball.

would be an unexpected signing

the only way I see it happening (assuming we Cavani) is that Dzeko is off and we had an offer for tevez that we are happy with

Without wanting to sound too negative, wouldn't be too enthralled if we ended up with him instead of Cavani.

Hopefully its just paper talk.

See what @Honigstein has to say, he's pretty ITK with German football

does he say that Gomez is a bit lazy?

I was trying to say that if tevez and Edin go then we may be looking to get both Gomez and Cavani

He is a bit lazy.

All he does is score goals, he won't get involved in the play outside of the box. Just finish whatever comes into it.

Maybe they are thinking if Cavani isn't going to happen get Gomez and stick him up front and have Navas, Silva and so on playing around him and just get the ball in the box for him asap with speed and accuracy.

If we sell Tevez and Dzeko for around 30m+, Gomez won't cost anywhere near as much as Cavani so we can put that money towards buying Isco or Thiago?

How much better is he than Dzeko though?

If we're going to just get it into the box then you might aswell keep him.

I don't think this one is happening, doesn't fit in with the style i see us wanting to play.

The guy doesn't touch the ball much but he scored 11 league goals form 37 shots, which is a conversion rate of almost 29%; even Messi isn't quite that clinical. Tranny and Balo have conversion rates around 15% for last season, as does Dzeko.

Gomez for Dzeko would be a good move if we replace Tevez with Cavani (18.5% conversion rate).

Strong rumours in Munich that Mario Gomez has signed for Manchester City! #mcfc Any information?

Please no, he might score goals but his all round game is fucking uber gash, Dzeko's miles better.

Reckon Bayern would have won the 2012 Champions League had he been able to bag one of his many chances.

I really don't think he is that much of an upgrade on Dzeko, if at all.

He has never been the same since him injury, and if we think Dzekos work rate is bad this guy does nothing but sit up top.

Honestly don't know how he fits our side...

Gomez over Cavani, seriously???
