Mario Gomez

The bad thing is the guy who tweeted that out is always very genuine and does tweet out some good knowledge on the bundesliga every now and then

Hope it isn't true tbh...

Depends on the price. Filippo Inzaghi thrived at AC Milan and whilst he wasn't a great all round player he had an uncanny knack of scoring regularly which made him a fan favourite.

Ok, i have to be honest. This thread scares the shit out of me. If we end up with Gomez i dont, im lost for words really..[/quote

I totally agree. Scratching my head on this one. Aguero and Dzeko are great finishers. The problem wasn't finishing, it was creating enough genuine chances.

Good finishers are hard to come by. I fail to see how a guy who is a regular player for both Bayern and Germany could be considered as not good enough for City?

No it wasn't we created loads of chances, Finishing all through the strikers and midfield was a problem

If he would be played like Dzeko by Mancini, like coming deep a lot, trying to build attacks instead only being the end of crosses from Ribery, Robben, Lahm etc then he would suffer so much more than Dzeko here.

If we plan to change tactics that could be useful for a type of player like Gomez then we can keep Dzeko and will does the job very well.

I mean there is a reason Chelsea could after Dzeko or Dortmund. (Mourinho, Klopp wants him, there is a reason why...)

Selling Dzeko, getting Cavani fair, but for Gomez?

So assuming Tevez is leaving, due to contract expiring next season.

I would rather have Augero, Dzeko and Gomez than Augero, Cavani and Dzeko

More variety and different types of players in the first pack.

Plainly not true.

Everyone says we want Cavani because the tabloids say so and Mancini mentioned it - does anyone know for a fact? Everyone said we wanted Falcao too ?

I was thinking that the other day....was Cavani a Mancini target only ?

Napoli's owner came out and talked about our negotiations with them two weeks ago.

Napoli's owner will say anything to get publicity and push up price wouldn't trust a word he says

I believe so, Gomez and Dzeko are more different than Cavani and Dzeko.

I see a lot of Dzeko when in Germany in Cavani - Dzeko isn't a bad player he's just lost his way a bit due to formation, loses of confidence and loss of form, lack of consistent game time.

Yes, Cavani is the one we want...He'd scare defences with his all-round game.

However, if we can't get him or don't want to meet his release clause, Gomez would be a far from bad option. With all the chances Merlin and Navas will create we need a fox-in-the-box to get on the end of them. It didn't seem to do Van Nistelrooy's career any harm did it? Look at Gomez's scoring for both club and country. The guy certainly knows how to finish.
Lol. van Nistelrooy's technical ability was far greater than Gómez's is.

But Van Pervy's conversion rate is well behind Gomez' 19% for RvP in the league; 29% for Gomez this season. 17% v 25% last season.

Huh? He said being a fox-in-the-box didn't do Ruud van Nistelrooy much harm, which it didn't, but he had so much more to his game and offered much more to teams because his touch, skill and all round ability were far better than Gomez's are.
