Mario Gotze - Injured for Champs League Final ?

If you were a footballer would you give up your first chance to play in a CL final? (and potentially only chance however unlikely)
Never. Even if the final is against the side I would play for from next season.

Huge blow for Dortmund, I dont think they can win without him. Their direct replacements are too young. I wonder if Klopp will take a gamble and play Kehl and Bender in midfield with Gundogan just above the to try and compensate. Shame for Gotze to miss out on such a big occasion, but if Guardiola does not mess up I would not be against him getting a chance next year too.

me and my girlfriends dad (who's a rag) both agree it smells funny, imagine if he has scored the winner, as others have said, he would of been hated from the start

He did his hamstring against Madrid. He was never likely to recover in time. Why would Gotze miss possibly his only ever chance to play in a Champions League final?

Don't think he would have been hated that much. No one at Bayern believes he's in love with his new club. He made a professional choice for his career and we know and appreciate it, he never said a bad word about Bayern before. Neuer survived and his transfer was way more controversial with the fans at Bayern than the Götze transfer could ever be, even if he scored the decisive goal in the final.

Exactly. It was a genuine injury, just one of those things.

Gotze has never said anything bad about Bayern indeed, so their fans don't really have anything against him. Top talent so can't see the fans having any hatred towards him. And I don't think he faked an injury, this is just getting ridiculous in my opinion. He got the injury in the first minutes of the away game so it wasn't intentional by any means.

am i the only who thinks that all dortmund needed was 2-3 top squad players for them too really close the gap on bayern.

its just outrageous bayern buying both goetze and lewandowski.

Why ? We have no duty to keep Dortmund strong. Götze had a get out clause and Lewandowski will go for nothing anyway in a years time. Plus if we do buy Lewa they will be getting the small matter of €62 million for the pair of them which goes a long way to buying top class replacements.
