Mario, time to say goodbye?

No.

You won't improve if you dispense with your strikers you have paid good money for every two seasons especially ones that can win you games of football.

Tevez is already gone so to speak.

Yes he has to adapt his game to limit the opportunity to refs to get him off the pitch and opposition players will exploit his nature on the pitch but giving up on him for three red cards is ridiculous.

What Tolmie forgets is the fact he is loved by the supporters , is liked by his teammates and can play the game at a decent level at 21.

We are best placed to handle those players that are placed in the so called "too hard basket" in anycase.

At present he plusses far out weigh his minuses.

Our next striker we recruit over the summer is one to support the three we have and should be a proven premiership player with enough hunger and enough talent to keep the ones we have on edge including Balotelli

Leave it out mate - you clearly haven't understood the thread. He asks a valid question - is Mario's reputation making his position at the club untenable?
I have understood the question and i have disagreed and so have a lot of other posters in this thread, isn't that what a forum is all about?
but because its "tolmie's hairdoo" he's obviously always correct i suppose...

That's right, cite and hide behind other posters, safety in numbers and all that, that's what cowards and bullies tend to do.

You have not offered an opinion, you simply said you disagreed, without qualifying it, as others have also not done.

No need to make me out to be no more than another blue poster, trying to spark a relevant debate and being interested in other people's opinions.

So it's okay to defend one of our players, yet feel the need to tar a fellow blue?

Question for you - do you think the owners and Mancini will be happy about this latest situation?

was mancini happy before sunday ?

Sometimes I think that when he's not played for a while, he's so frustrated that he's not played that he brings this extra aggression out onto the pitch when he does finally get on which is unnecessary.
That is certainly born out when he comes on a sub. He is usually booked within 10 minutes, whether justly or not.

-- Tue Jan 24, 2012 12:47 pm --

HE. IS. 21. YEARS. OLD.
Missing the point of the thread Bob.

His discipline is better than Rooney's at 21 but Rooney is not the media target Balotelli is. TH is asking if Balo's position is becoming untenable due to the witchhunt aimed his way.

It seem's unlikely that will change. Balotelli gets a booking every game for his first mis-timed tackle. There IS an agenda against him and it may be too entrenched for him to succeed here.

Personally, I say keep him and support him in the strongest terms.
It's not often something is completely untenable. The day Mario becomes a man will be the day he and City beat this shit that is coming his way.

We have to keep fighting! Never ever give up!
I would certainly tend to agree, certainly for now.

Look at the lads eyes: he's just a boy. With all the bravado in the world and an unbelievable potential talent, I really see someone who is quite insecure and unsure and in some ways scared. That's why he does a lot of what he does.

What I want to see is Mario become a man but i want that to happen with City. He's shown glimpses here and there. He's shown he can handle pressure in some situations (penalties). He's shown he can be an absolute asset and automatic starter, in small doses. He wont show these things fully until he grows into a man and I really don't want to see him do that with anyone else.

I love Mario. I find all the things that come with him funny and entertaining but I love him because he's a scared boy with an unusual background. He makes me want to know him, put my arm around him and tell him how great he will be and that everything will be alright.

Mario could be a fantastic footballer and a City legend. We all saw how the exact same person became a nutter in Paul Gascoine. Mario is like anreincarnation of Gazza. It would be great if Gazza could talk to Mario! There weren't enough people telling Gazza the truth in his life. Same with Mario. He needs telling off and disciplining whenever possible and appropriate, and telling he's loved whenever possible and appropriate.

Well said ...he obviously feels misunderstood and victimized to a degree as well hence the "why always me" t shirt.I believe a lot of the stories are true regards to giving people less fortunate a few quid here and there as well , its the kind of thing he would do. I dont believe theres any malice or anything vindictive in the slightest with the kid . DEFINITELY KEEP HIM and watch him help score the goals that will see us finally win this title.

His girlfriend will take care of some of those things for sure.

i dont always agree with your post dan but on this i do.

i think being the only or one of few black people in his home town, from an early age he`s had to developed a self defense mechanism to allow him to cope. this arrogant persona he gives off is his shield from the world.

Balotelli is an imbecile and liability. We should never have bought him in the first place. He brings great delight to the twitter generation with his retarded actio....woooby fuckin doo. Fuckwits in this country dont half love a buffoon. If I wanted to watch a fucking clown I'd go to Billy Smarts Circus.

He's not fit to lace Dzekos or Agueros boots. If Aguero or Edin get injured we are in big trouble. So well done Super Mario.

Has he done our title chances any good with his ridiculous attitude on the pitch? Ive not waited since 1968 to hopefully see us crowned Champs for it to be wrecked by that smug, self centred, arrogant delinquent.

And FFS dont give me the " he won the pen shit".

Well its late January and you have already won the cock of the year award. Must be a world record and with so many competitors it really is some achievement

I was going to post the same question yesterday but thought better of it for fear of mis -interpretation.
The fact is that as much as we all love this guy he has become such a media target that his every move is scrutinised , most players have the odd lash out at other players and most go un-noticed because they are not high profile players/clubs . mario is different though, not since golden ball used to play in england have we seen such a media frenzy over a guy but this time they seem to have a hate figure which in my opinion can only damage the club in the longrun, there is always the old saying though -"theres no such thing as bad publicity" which when you think about it could reveal a bigger picture , our owners have sought global publicity since they arrived and what a vehicle for it our Mario is, everybody is talking about our club, every forum is full of us ,every tv station, paper etc . hmmmmmmmmmmmm i dont know what to think anymore, after years of being respected by many opposition fans as a true footie fan ,following my team to the shittiest grounds in england and then down the divisions to macc and shrewsbury , suddenly i am hated and a plastic, i am finding it difficult to deal with tbh.
and i run out of rizla and its raining.
fc city anyone ?we can recreate the old days again ,i know it.

Definitely not. Who's to say that the media won't continue to hound and harrass our players? If we capitulate by selling Mario, the low-lifes in the media will consider it a victory and their concerted witch-hunt will go on. I'm starting to loose faith in English football - not my Team cos I'll support City forever - as the atmosphere feels more like Salem... CTID.

Mario is no worse in his behaviour than Rooney. In fact, he's probably much closer to saintliness than Wazzock.

Mario kicks out on the pitch, FA action brought after the match is done
Wayne kicks out on the pitch, regularly no FA action.

Mario doesn't appeal
Wayne gets the FA to reduce his ban on the grouds that he is Wayne Rooney.

Mario wears a humorous 'Why Always Me?' t-shirt, revealing it when he scores a goal
Wayne, win or lose, swears at the camera and calls his own fans for their show of support.

Mario, or a close friend, lets of fireworks from his rented house
Wayne breaks his Wedding vows in spectacular fashion, paying a granny for sex

Mario cites his ex-mentor as a guiding light, so much so that he is willing to change countries and cultures to commit to his new project.
Wayne is sued by his ex-manager for libel.

Mario drives into a women's prison out of curiosity
Wayne '(allegedly) decided to cheat on his pregnant wife with another prostitute.

But, put simply, Mario is grabbing all the headlines because he is a much more interesting person, and although he's young and raw and makes some silly decisions, he's not actually morally corrupt.
