I hope we stick by him, as ferguson did with Cantona. It could end in tears, of course, but if he's driven out of our game because of incompetent officials and the media then football in this country is headed into the gutter.

Absolutely. Some players are worth sticking with and Balotelli is one such player. Cantona was unemployable at the age of 25 in his own country - even retiring from the game for a short while - and was arguably a bigger liability than Mario is at 21 but Leeds (followed by United) took a punt on him and it paid off, particularly for United.

Even accounting for Sunday's incident and the sending off at Anfield, Balotelli has shown far more consistency on the pitch this season compared to last and has become an utterly vital player for us. Even though he's still capable of doing daft things, his so-called moments of madness have become less frequent.

Casting him aside now would be sheer madness IMO - better to have him on the inside pissing out than the outside pissing in.

No but it did happen! As did his sending off in the EL, as did his sending off against West Brom, as did his......
No one is saying he isn't brilliant, but he's no use if he's banned for the next 4 games, and it's not the first time he's done something stupid is it? Imagine if we had a player with the talent, (even more so infact), but without the threat of doing something where we miss him for 4 games every now and then?

No way. Back him 100%. Stick with him through this rough patch. Show him the love next time he plays, and reap the benefits for many years to come. Has the talent and the right manager to become a legend here if we stick together and stick two fingers up to all the jealous wankers getting on his case.
how many chances is he going to get to become this 'legend'? he is clearly a top class player but his attitude just isnt there. he could end up costing us the title.

for the good of the club i think we need to start thinking about replacing him with someone who has the talent and someone who hasnt got a screw loose. i.e cavani.

How many years has he been here? Five, six, seven - errrr 18 months. Hardly a long time.

He's a volatile character yes. He's likely to do something stupid from time to time.

Just answer this - would you have had Dzeko take that penalty on Sunday?

Imagine this - Wednesday the score is 0-1 and there's 15 seconds left on the clock. Aguero's been taken off.
Silva chips the ball over the Liverpool defence as our lone striker beats the offside trap. Who would you rather see on that one to one with Reina - Mario or Dzeko?

He'll be the difference that wins us more games than ones where he contributes to our downfall.

only Mario will know why, but every little nudge, shove, or decision against him is treated with some massive over reaction of aggression. i personally think refs have given him the benefit of the doubt already and he could of been treated a lot worse.
unfortunately i feel the tide has turned and removing him from the spotlight ie maybe a loan til the summer or selling Mario is the only option.
either way with the loss of Carlos and the saga that is Mario, we surely need to bolster this position.

But we need 4 strikers really. So surely the issue isn't do we get rid of him now, surely it is get rid of that c*** Tevez ASAP so we can get in the 4th striker. Then we would be less reliant on Balotelli who is brilliant but obviously a bit unreliable.

What actually happens internally to Mario........?

Does he get fined by City ?

Personally i think it is a suck it and see situation re his future. He is an immature twenty year old and he has to learn that he is going to be targetted and he has to accept what comes with that.

If he cant do that over rest of the season, then reluctantly i think we nned to look at the bigger picture for City and move on.

Anyne saying get rid, imo, has a poor attitude.

If Mario doesn't lash out, he doesn't get these kinds of backlashes. Mancini is the best manager for him and the PL is a better place with him in it.

Managers should be expected to manage and coaches coach... do your job and get the potential out of Mario Balotelli. There's few with his skill and mentality combined, we'd be foolish to let him go.

Before this latest outburst, he was winning over collumists, commentaters, general football fans. He's not bigger than the game and he's not been villified by everyone unless he's caused it himself.

I agree, thats why I think he cant be trusted and so for us to ever win anything consistently we need another Sergio.Complete pro who stays on the pitch,is man enough to take a bit of shit and scores goals.

Love Balo for his antics & skill but he cant do that if off the pitch and I dont think he will ever learn.Believe me I have defended him to mates who question him and now feel so let down.

Cant tell you how unhappy our household was(my 2 young lads worship him) after the game, real downer.

Twitcher was also obviously delighted to have something to take the shit away from his court case.

I understand what you're saying but it's a bit like saying "if I hadn't murdered him, I wouldn't be in jail".

On the OP, I really don't know. I love him and would love to see him reach his potential here but he gets a booking for fuck all, always his first tackle. What I would prefer to selling him would be the Club lobbying hard behind closed doors with a dossier of examples of this to try and level the playing field.
