The current Premier League is poor, I certainly don't think it is any better than Serie A.

<a class="postlink" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UEFA_coefficient" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UEFA_coefficient</a>

The coefficients are done over a few years arent they? When I said I don't think the Prem is currently better than Serie A, I am talking about this season. I think the Prem has gone really down hill in the last two years and is currently very ordinary. I also think those co-efficients will be skewed by Chelsea's lucky winning of the CL when they were actually a very poor team. The coefficients are a reasonable guide but they are just that, a guide, I don't think they prove anything.
Edit: Also, looking at those figures, am I right in thinking that Serie A currently has a marginally higher coefficient for this season than the Prem?

No team wins the CL without a bit of luck. Coefficients are not form meters. Judging a league on form is just ludicrous. AC Milan would find it difficult to qualify for Champions League in the Prem. Likewise, Barca and Madrid would continue to be dominant if they played here. But it's all hypothetical. Time reveals quality.

I don't really know what you mean by, "Judging a league on form is just ludicrous." The question was about whether Mario is doing better over there because Serie A is supposedly shit compared to the Prem. He's only been back there a couple of months so surely only the very current relative strength of the two leagues is relevant to the argument. FWIW, I completely accept that over 5 years the Prem has been much stronger than Serie A but I don't think it is at this very moment. City have been genuinely average this season, when we came up against decent teams in Europe we were utterly hopeless. Yet we are fairly comfortably the second best team in the country. I think that tells us where the Prem is this season. But as you say it is all largely hypothetical and unquantifiable.

So what??

Its fucking irrelevant,he's playing in Italy, where he always wanted to be.

His natural talent was never in question, only his application.

He is played in the right system with some good support.

You mean he is actually played up front?

Who would have thought that would ever work....

Kneejerk reactions abound

This is his honeymoon period, next season he'll revert to type - a lazy, overrated liability
