Martín Zubimendi

He’s got a release clause. We know how much it would cost. It’s then up to the player to decide.
Which happened in the summer and he turned down Liverpool.

Fair play to him.

We might give him an ultimatum that’s it’s now or never for city or might even see us go in for him in the summer as we will clearly be buying players in the summer

We can’t wait unfortunately, needs to be January or never imo

Surely it's better to wait for the right person in the summer (be that zubamendi or someone else) than panic buy a second choice in January?

There's a limit to how much anyone, no matter how good, can influence a season when they arrive mid season. There's no way we're winning the league now so personally I'd prefer our transfer strategy to be more focused on the much bigger, longer term rebuild than trying to save a season that has already gotten away from us. If we can get our preferred targets in Jan then great, but if not I'd prefer to wait.

I appreciate there's a fight for top 4 on our hands but the players we have ought to be good enough for that to be honest.

I mean...great. But, we need him/somebody in January and not Summer.
Well this is wahat I've been saying IF the player/s we want aren't available in January then we wait, we don't fill the squad with players as stop gaps, then not have room for players we want in the summer..

It depends entirely on what the alternatives are. Because if those alternatives for January are not actually good enough, waiting is the best course of action. Signing yet more players that aren’t good enough, just because they add another body in January, will only extend our decline further. We need the right players. If that takes a bit longer then fine, take longer. At least we’d bounce back eventually. Going for the quick ‘fix’ that isn’t actually a fix, just makes it more likely that we don’t return to the top any time soon.

true but if Zubimendi fancies the move then it can be done? If Zubimendi doesnt want to leave Spain then Ederson can be that guy and even if costs 10m more than the summer then to get top 4 would be worth £100m plus than missing out so we spend the extra to get?
