Martín Zubimendi

true but if Zubimendi fancies the move then it can be done? If Zubimendi doesnt want to leave Spain then Ederson can be that guy and even if costs 10m more than the summer then to get top 4 would be worth £100m plus than missing out so we spend the extra to get?
And if Ederson or Atalanta say no to January ? There must be a point where we wait for the summer and make do this season.Hopefully it won't come to that but if it does it does.

Atalanta imo wouldnt turn down say 50m mate, all depends on who the club want i guess but we need a body in January in that area

Not sure. They are 2nd in Seria A and only a point behind Napoli. Selling their main midfielder in January could completely ruin their season.
Not sure they are in the position to turn down a big offer.

Your talking about a club that has a 25K stadium, offer 50m Euros and double the players wages and I would say it will happen.

Not sure we'll be buying a guy who's only played twice for Brazil. Not for 50 million anyway.

Surely it's better to wait for the right person in the summer (be that zubamendi or someone else) than panic buy a second choice in January?

There's a limit to how much anyone, no matter how good, can influence a season when they arrive mid season. There's no way we're winning the league now so personally I'd prefer our transfer strategy to be more focused on the much bigger, longer term rebuild than trying to save a season that has already gotten away from us. If we can get our preferred targets in Jan then great, but if not I'd prefer to wait.

I appreciate there's a fight for top 4 on our hands but the players we have ought to be good enough for that to be honest.

Calling for calm and patience with signings is not going to go down well on here.

Fernandinho had played 5 times for Brazil when we signed him for what would be the equivalent of €50m these days.
If he's anywhere near Dinho we should be throwing the kitchen sink at him. €50m would seem cheap for a player like him these days.

That kind of energy, speed and all round quality is severely lacking right now.
