He’s a Ballon D’Or winning no.6 though. Any rebuild that removes the best player in the world from his best position is not the optimal rebuild. We can do better.

Disappointed with this. He'd have been great alongside Rodri. Especially as Rodri gets older and can't cover the ground as well.

If he played as an 8, we would be weaker at 6 possibly the most important position in our team. So it wouldn't be ideal.Rodri could play as an 8 in a pinch.
But he is definitely better as a 6 than an 8.

I think our DM/CM need will be reduced to D. Luiz on loan maybe this window, which is still a much better alternative than nobody coming in.

Yeah I don’t get this versatility stuff that’s going on. Just play the good players at their position. I rather see Bernardo as an 8 next to Rodri than Rodri as an 8 next to Zubi. Ridiculous how not only did we let arsenal outbid us for Rice but we’re now making the same mistake with this guy.
If the squad needs him and Pep seriously wants him, we should bid until the other club gives up. It’s so obvious the most glaring issue is a weak, slow, ageing midfield.

He probably should have been instead of bringing back Gundo, but that’s in hindsight.
