It's difficult with someone this young. If he is playing at first team level in Norway and is playing internationals, then it's unlikely he's going to want to go anywhere where he's put in a "B" team. On top of that by the sounds of things he has his feet firmly placed on the ground and his parents are a good influence so I don't see this being a money move.

I wouldn't know where to begin as far as City are concerned. On the face of it the new academy, training ground, the fact we're current PL champions, makes us a great pull. However it comes down to how much football he'll play and I just don't see a 16 year old playing much PL football in the next couple of years.

As has been suggested, sign him up and loan him back, or loan him to a club in Holland or Belgium, these countries both know how to nurture young talent and aren't afraid to play them if they're good enough.

I'd say the best teams in Norway are about low-to-middle Championship level. The lad is 15 and shining as a star at that level so he's clearly got something. As mentioned earlier in the thread City used to have some business connection with Strømsgodset - don't know if that's still on.

Still I think he's overrated although he got called up for Norway team lets see how he does in his debut or his bench apperance. That will be a way to asses them as no tv channel shows Stromgodset play. Still seems overrated liked to see how he would do in our u21 team. Would not sign until he's proven. Because he hasn't played a decent competitor yet. Are you actually serious? The lad is 15 years old and is apparently more than holding his own in an adults league, how can he be over rated?! You're chatting shit mate.

Just consider the transfer fee we'd have to pay for him to come here just to play on our eds because he want break into the physicality of premier league anytime soon. So yes I am saying he's overrated although he's great for his age. And also we have to wait 3 years before he could break into our first team by them we could have already won a CL title lol.

But we could sign him now and loan him to a team either in Belgium or Holland. This is the way Chelsea do business, and they make a profit usually too. We have the investment in the Academy but why not use the Chelsea way as well ?

He seems to be on a tour of Europe's clubs, have we shown him the Campus yet?

He will probably go to Ajax/PSV, Spain (Barca B or Real Madrid Castilla) or Germany (any number of B teams) where he'll play good level football quickly.

English 'traditions and values' (aka old world snobbery, reluctance to move with the times, much like the attitude towards 'new money') meant the B team idea was panned by everyone (City one of the few supporters) so we're stuck with the reserve league and hit-and-miss loan moves... not an easy lure for one the world's most promising teens.

Currently at Stromsgodset, Martin Odegaard is, at the tender age of 15, the youngest player to have ever played in the Norwegian Premier League, even making his international debut with his national side.

The Norwegian has shown himself to be quite a phenomenon and the big clubs are already sniffing around in the hope of snagging the young talent, who is still undecided about what he will do next season. What does seem clear is that his club will sell him after being inundated with offers.

Real Madrid made their approach a while back. The midfielder came to Madrid last week to spend some time staying at the Valdebebas. He left delighted and 'Los Blancos' have been quick to follow up with an offer which would see him dressed in white, albeit starting out with a spell at Castilla.

The problem is that the youngster has had offers to play in top flight competitions. He is a self-confessed Liverpool fan, but has already said that he will not be swayed by that. "That won't affect my choice of a new club. The important thing is to find a team that is the best option for me and my development, not necessarily Liverpool. I haven't really thought about my future yet. I'll end the season here and visit some clubs. I haven't decided, but it is flattering to find out that some of the big clubs have been watching you for a while".

Real's bid for Odegaard fits with the new academy policy they want to bring in from next season, which involves signing players with first team potential who will bolster the ranks of the second team until making the leap.
