Martin Demichelis (continued)

What a year this guy has had! Who would've guessed at the turn of the year that Demichelis would be where he is now? He was a liability and alot of us (most of us) wanted us to get rid and somehow, someway he has completely turned around his performances and IMO, was our best defender in the past calendar year. Wins the League Cup and then the League Title and then gets the ultimate recognition for his performances by getting into the Argentina side for the WC. Now he is one game away from winning the World Cup. Honestly, you couldn't write this!

He deserves this for all the flack he has received and when he comes back to Manchester, he better come with a World Cup winners medal in tow.

He did a Kompany run today lol. Will we see him do it more this season? Would be crazy if both our CBs have that added attacking flair to exploit gaping midfields.

Granted, Mascherano made a brilliant last ditch block, so seemed to get most of the praise from the "experts" on ITV at the end, but thought MDM was equally superb tonight. What a great feeling to know half the City defence will play a World Cup final :D

Tbf he has had to come into a new side and some decisions from officials where iffy.yet the guy gets on with the job with a smile.

Not being smart but I posted many months ago that we would have been in deep shit if it wasn't for Martin - it is great to see that my assessment of him wasn't far off the mark and he became such a key figure in our championship winning team and has now played a huge role in Argentina getting to the final.

And my wife now thinks he is a bit of a hunk.

Why are we trying to buy a central defender when we have the two of the best defenders in the game, and some promising young players in reserve?

Demichelis is fantastic at organising a back 4 line, anticipating an attack, coming out and pinching the ball, and then instigating an attack. He is weak once you get one on one and when the one twos isolate him.......then you need a player like Mascherano who has the speed and low centre of gravity to win tackles.

Demichelos started the Premiership season slowly, but he finished it in unbelievably good form.

The German movement upfront may cause him problems.

Overall I don't see why we need to replace him, and I started out as a sceptic.

The jey to a good defence is organisation and complementary defenders. If you had two Demichelis's and no Mascherano or no Kompany it would not work.

I hope City abandon our search for a central defender or put it on hold for a season

Argued the toss with my mate about Demi. All the pundits jumped on the MDM is rubbish band wagon didn't they, they now look stupid don't they.

Like most of us I wasnt a huge fan of MDM whem he first came to City but WOW this guy has a been on a tear the last half year. I don't know if we win the title without him last year and now hes played his way into the starting XI of a WC final.

Heading into pre-season hes cemented himself as the other CB on the team sheet.

Unlike Samson, he cuts his hair and becomes stronger, he has been outstanding so far and last night played brilliantly to stifle almost everything that cheating **** Robben did.

I must admit I was one of his detractors in the early part of last season, had to hold my hand up and say sorry MD, I misjudged you, in the WC he has been outstanding too.. !
