Martin Demichelis (continued)

I am beginning to think that we don't need to be held to ransom in buying mangala or benatia. With the signing of Fernando, the centre halves should be less exposed to quick counter attacks. With Nasty hopefully back to form, a good pre season for Boyata and Rekik, we might be ok.

Unless we play a high line then Kompany, MDM, Nasty & Rekik with Sagna & Boyata as cover if necessary is certainly good enough for the PL.
For the CL I think we need better but given next year's squad restrictions how realistic is the CL anyway? Put the £30m plus Yaya's
transfer fee to reshaping the team to play without Yaya and prioritise the PL.

He played well. In the commentary both him & Garay were rarely mentioned. I always think if CHs are rarely noticed it means
that they are having a crackin game! Holding midfielders are the same, at his best Gareth Barry went largely unnoticed.

Have to say I didn't recognize Demichelis right away because of his new haircut. I was looking for the player with flowing locks, not short back and side. (I actually like the new look). Anyway, I thought he was brilliant during the game and the right side of the D was totally strong with both Zaba and Demichelis. In a way I hope they get the Netherlands in the semi so they can school that arrogant prick Robben. What a dick!

Played well bar one shocker of a pass straight to the opposition.Luckily his luck has changed, pre Barcelona that would have led to a goal.

LOL. Very true. The fickle hand of fortune and all that.

Formed a good partnership with Garay, both know how to hold a good line and were more than comfortable dealing with the aimless long balls that Belgium lobbed up. Both bullied Origi in the first half, not letting him control it and turn. Nearly threw away all his good work in injury time though, after reacting slowly to a Lukaku run, then compounding it with a poor recovery tackle that gave Lukaku a great chance of leveling the game. Much better than Fernandez though, so should start the semi
