I would sack off trying to buy a centre half and have Kompany and Demichelis as the first choice with Nastasic and Rekik ready to step up when it's their time.

We don't need anyone else!

Nastasic and Rekik are unreliable.

DEmichelis is 33 and has one year left on his deal, we must get a CB in this window and we will.

Agree, & although DMD finished the season well, the thought of him coming on now & again worries me. He won't be upto the pace of the game & we saw how bad that was earlier on last season. Maybe a cup player.
He was lucky not to pick up a second yellow last night but I wish him Zab & Kun all the best in the final.

He would have had to be very unlucky to be sent off for winning tackles and headers mate!

Shows me that you underestimate his performance and his ability - He is totally trusted to receive the ball from any direction, won most of his challenges and headers, controlled the organisation of a top notch off side trap and helped keep Robben quiet which, ultimately led them to the final. The only issue on our part is the number of games we have. He is only here for one more year but I for one think he has been excellent for us. The way we worked as a unit in the last part of last season was in no small part down to his performances and organisation. For 3 million he was outstanding and hopefully Rekik can develop understanding the system we employ. I do think we are buying another CB but I think every City fan should recognise what a difference he made after a tough settling in period when some were duped by media (Hansen) comments about him.

Martin was efficient and reliable in the run in.

Every player no matter how old , how experienced in the big comps needs some time to settle into the rigours of the premiership.

Those wanting him out and so soon on this forum in particular once again should apologise to the rest and to MP and move on.

I had my doubts about MP in the beginning and was gulity of judging him too harshly too soon although not nearly as much as many others and in terms of knowing players he could rely on in the crunch he came up trumps last year.

Any player who could command a regular place in central defence for as long as MD did at Bayern is no mug.

He was more valuable for us last season than Vidic was in the last title Manure got.

Yes we do need a top CB more so for cover for VK as well as he will get further injuries but if we can keep VK and MD fir for the vast majority of the season we should be ok.

Agreed a great purchase for a crucial position at a bargain basement price.

You couldn't ask for more and apparently a great family man as well.

Little wonder Argentina can win the World Cup this year by having the best defence.

I have to admit at the start of his career at City he appeared to be a liability but wow what a turnaround. towards the end of the season I was glad to see his name on teamsheet. That Messi penalty would probably have been conceded by any defender in that position. What he lacks in pace (according to the experts) (since when did defenders need super pace anyway unless they are attacking FB) he makes up for in assuredness, confidence and anticipation. So many said he would struggle against the Dutch !!! nope he didnt. I only saw one misplaced pass the whole game. The rest was a demonstration of how to be a defender. He is a class act and I suspect has more than one season left with us.

He was amazing in that Barca game until the penalty. And had Vinny held the line it woudve been offside.

AGREED. Stood up from the moment we were down to 10 men and needed organising and the way he took charge won my respect. Hoping to have another laugh at Brazil tonight as they just match all the hype we had to put up with Liverpool during the run in. I would love Matin, Sergio and Pablo to pick up a winners medal and come back home as World Champions.

Raw talent alone doesn't make aplayer. Understanding what u can and cant do and when and when not to do it, allied with hard work are the basic ingredients to be successful at what ever level. Martin epitomises this! Really made up for him. Hope our three amigos can do the job!
