Martin Demichelis (continued)

He had a great tournament and hopefully he continues his good form with us in the new season.

Looking forward to seeing both him and Zabba back playing for us. Both have been in good form particularly Zabba who looks to have improved his game ...if that's possible.

Age 32.
Established himself in a new country in one of the world's best leagues.
Won the fans over after a shaky start.
Bagged a League Cup and a Premier League medal.
Forced his way back into the Argentina side.
Played with distinction in the World Cup.
Last but not least, a tidy looking bird.

A pretty decent season, I would say.

Back for pre season training today;

What's he going to have for lunch. Liver and fava beans, washed down with a nice chianti?

For all the good he has done last season he was always going to be short term. I think its a shame that we might lose out on Nastasic well knowing that Demichelis will be around for another season. And by the end of that season will need replacing when we already have his replacement in Nastasic. I hope both stay but just cant see that happening sadly. The Peli will do what he thinks is best and I have fully confidence in him but I will be sad to see Nasty going.

I would be surprised if we let Nasti go full stop. A season loan maybe.

Fact is with centre halfs is that experience is the key. They usually improve with age because they have a brain and learn how to use it.

Im more than happy to have MDM play for us, he is class and yeah he is slow but so was Bobby Moore

I'm more than happy to see Martin extend his stay here,he's a winner with a great attitude and still looks like there is plenty of football left in him.

If that's at the expense of Nasty, who, although talented,i believe lacks heart.....then so be it.

For all the slating Boyata has had,i don't think he's a bad 4th option. We then have Rekik and the very promising Denayer.

I wouldnt loan him out too good to go out on loan. Rekik yes but no Nastasic if we get Kompany injured like last season and another we will struggle without him. MDM is getting on but his positioning is good and reads the game well but we need to improve more to go to the next level in the champions league.
