Great performance today
Not concentrating nor communicating with anyone for their goal though.

Not just him, as about six players were doing something wrong somewhere in the build up to their goal, but he could have done a lot more to prevent it.

-- Sun Mar 30, 2014 6:18 am --

The way we play, there is a chance we would make any defender look like a ****.

Our defenders play on the front foot and take chances. Our defenders might/do get it right 9/10 times but the 1 make them look exposed.

I like him, he much better than Lescott

Exactly !

Re: Martin Demichelis

I think he has received a lot of unfair criticism. He is a very good defender.

That's the point. I get it all the time when discussing defenders 'he was great apart from the two goals he went missing for' etc etc.

Yet, people still go back to mentioning a mistake by Lescott v QPR as if it's an example of his general play, which is so grossly unfair. It only happens to him a few times per season, as it does to Kompany..

Demichelis makes a potentially goal causing mistake or sometimes two or three, in every game he plays. Even when at his best. If he gets away with it, he often has had a very good game, apart from the bit where he almost cost us the game.

His performance v Arsenal was on the whole superb, as it was v Utd. But he went missing for Arsenal's goal & almost cost us several times v Utd, noticably when he just ran away & left Wellbeck unmarked in front of our goal. That was one of the worst bits of defending I've ever seen, but we got away with it.

Had Wellbeck scored, & we failed to find a winner in that game, we would be 3rd favourites for the title today & Demichelis' mistakes would again be highlighted as being the main reason we dropped points (& possibly blew the title). It's a hard job defending in this team, but many of Demichelis' mistakes are actually just down to being careless or having a rush of blood to the head. It's a gamble every time he plays.

When he is at his best, the team play better with him there. But he sails close to the wind in every game & between now & May, he is more likely to cost us the league with mistakes, than he is to win us the league with extrordinary defending.

Hopefully we will get away with it.

Except for the fact you fail to mention his goal saving tackle when Vinny and Zab were caught out of position. The reason we didn't win at Arsenal was for five minutes at the beginning of the second half we gave the ball away four times and gave them and their crowd encouragement to push on. It is something that we have to get rid of - the little spells where we become lethargic - good 4 pts from 2 away games though. Finally am I alone in despising Arteta - he trys to get players booked and always has sly digs by leaving his foot in - nasty player for me.

Re: Martin Demichelis

MDM is a SUPERB header of the ball both defencively and offencively. In fact, the last player who impressed me as much as MDM in that dapertment was Kakhaber Tskhadadze.

I have to agree with this post in full. - i thought he had a great game today.

Although there was some bad play leading up to the goal, he allowed flamini to just waltz past him , if he hadn't - no goal , you might think im being critical but its a fairly basic error, switched off momentarily but at a crucial time which usually spells goal for the opposition, it doesn't matter which defender it is, fall asleep at a crucial moment - curtains.

I also think we was wasteful with our opportunities in the first half again- why didnt zab and navas get their shots of instead of trying to thread a pass through that was near impossible- pull the trigger- our first at the swamp and again yday were both scored by following up after a shot .

Hopefully it will turn out a good point-, a draw at anfield might be enough but a win would be tremendous !!

Re: Martin Demichelis

Class yesterday, puts himself forward for the cause, would start for me everytime and that was my thoughts before the flappin' JCL's started knockin' him a few weeks ago.

I think Fernandinho's slip was the main fuck up there, these things happen though.

A very good point that, in a great week for MCFC.

Re: Martin Demichelis

I don't know were Jamie Carragher gets off slagging MDM?? MDM has come to a new league , the fastest league in the world too and the wrong side of 30 and gets sniggered at somebody who played a handful of games for England. It's funny how Carragher doesn't mention he's just been part of a defence that has only conceded 1in 6??? It's not like he cost £30M.

Yes he had a great game, just wish he would stay in the centre more and not come out to the wings.

Excellent synopsis of his career.

Re: Martin Demichelis

He's probably better than kompany....Wait a second before you put your knickers in one twist x

Ate we still arguing about pellers? Not right. Some idiots get to support us. Fuck em. They have no idea what a team is xx

Re: Martin Demichelis

Has improved since his sending off against Barca (which he was playing well in), but lack of concentration in the box again to leave Flamini which has cost City, but still a good point away.

When Kompany got carded, Demichellis stepped up and won almost everything to be fair. A marked improvement from when he first came, but still only a stop gap solution.

Re: Martin Demichelis

He's up with Silva and Yaya for player of the month...

Is he starting to grow on anyone? He is on me.
