Martin Demichelis

Everyone around me was calling him during the second half - I thought he did really well as a holding midfielder - kept the ball moving and his passing was generally good.

We need a new CB and have done since we won the title. This is a weak area for us and Barcelona will definitely target him if he plays.

In the close season we don't need to sign any offensive minded players at all.

We need a CB, a left back and a quality midfield player to take some strain off Yaya and Fernandinho.

Demichelis had a good 2ndhalf. Distributed the ball well, and won the ball when Watford looked like breaking on us. He snuffed counter-attacks out before they started and got us back on the attack again.

Whole team pressed Watford back in the 2nd half, and Demichelis was to the fore. He always is. Some defenders retreat, Demichelis doesn't. One of my favourite players at the moment

Aye he got better the further away he was from the back four.

His lack of pace may not be a problem against Barca... they don't tend to counter attack - they tend to maul you out of position by passing you off the pitch.

Pelegrini trusts him more than Nastic

He does and I just can't fathom that personally. He was poor at the back today, no doubt but am I the only one who thought he looked very decent once he moved into midfield?

Is this not just a reflection of Pellegrini's match plan ? We'll score more.

Demichelis is better at playing the ball out and passing forward than Nastasic. This allows the team to push further up the pitch.

I have very little confidence in Demichelis. In my view he has cost us a number of goals and points. But Nastasic has looked likely to foul and give away positions near the box. If he eradicated that, then in my view he would be clearly better than MD.

Nastasic and Lescott are not perfect by any means but in terms of defending both are miles better than MDM. Nastasic hasn't been at his best this season and does give freekicks away but it is all minor compared to the number of rash decisions and just rank poor defending MDM has displayed. I recognise MDM brings something to the team that they do not though, I just think if Pellegrini desperately wants him in the team he needs to play him infront of the back four like he did in the 2nd half. He's just too much of a liability to be in the last line of defence.

Complete and utter liability at CB - if we play him there in big games it could really cost us but I fear Pellers sees him as Vinnies partner in big games, as he seems to have a lot of trust in him - He was steady in holding mid in 2nd half there were a few sloppy passes that gave Watford a sniff but mostly his passing was good ........ lets not forget though we were playing Watford!!!!

Agreed LF. MDM was absolute shocking in the first half and has been pretty much all season

if he is to play, it must be as a DM

I liked him a lot in midfield, he made a couple of passes that didn't work out but he was often trying passes a bit more difficult than the Garcia 5 yard sideways/backwards stuff. Also his almost compulsive desire to win the ball early which can be fatal when he's in the back four becomes a really positive trait in midfield imo.

He was shocking today, even at Savic's worst he would have been better than MD was today.

I'm guessing you didn't go to the League Cup Semi second leg at Anfield a couple of years ago?

Went to the home game and watched the second leg and at least with nervous Savic you could say he's young he'll learn but Demi was rank rotten today, I like the bloke but saying it how I seen it.
