Martin Demichelis

Combining his "pace" with his love of over commiting high up the field is a bit of a problem waiting to happen. Kompany does the same thing but he can actually get back eventually. Clearly Pellegrini wants our defenders to be proactive and try and make tackles high up the pitch, but he is just far too slow to get away with playing like that

The system Pellegrini is using doesn't really suit him he was fine for Malaga playing deep.
If Porto don't reduce that ridiculous price set on Mangala, I think Toby Alderweireld could be a shrewd buy. He's good on the ball used to our possession style of play.

The guy Atletico bought to replace Demichelis for just less that £2m more than we paid them for him [Demichelis]?

Demichelis had a good 2ndhalf. Distributed the ball well, and won the ball when Watford looked like breaking on us. He snuffed counter-attacks out before they started and got us back on the attack again.

Whole team pressed Watford back in the 2nd half, and Demichelis was to the fore. He always is. Some defenders retreat, Demichelis doesn't. One of my favourite players at the moment

Pelegrini trusts him more than Nastic

He does and I just can't fathom that personally. He was poor at the back today, no doubt but am I the only one who thought he looked very decent once he moved into midfield?
