Are City fans still delighted Roy got the job as it got one over on Redknapp?

Has Barry been replaced by Jonjo Shelvey yet?

The owl is working his magic already

I really don't think Harry would have been different but i did not expect this from Hodgeson.

I am finding myself very very disapointed in how much of a yes man he is to the FA. I thought he had more about him than that.

Not just with Micah and the double standards shown with that but also the racism issue with Terry and Rio etc.

His team selections on the whole also leave me scratching my head to an extent and it has all amalgamated to make me not give two hoots about the euro's.
I will not even be watching us out of choice.
It feels like trying to enjoy rugby league aka impossible.

All these politics before a ball has been kicked, can't be arsed with it.

Roy is out of his depth, its almost as though we have written this tournament off with that team selection. 6 players from the team that finished mid table is appalling.

I blame the FA though.....im still waiting for the report from the 'root and branch' analysis we were promised by barwick..

"The case of Richards is very different and would have been solved far more easily had Hodgson spoken to the Manchester City player. Instead, Hodgson asked the England Under-21 manager Stuart Pearce to contact Richards to break the news that he had not made the squad. That was the first mistake because, once Richards had taken in the initial disappointment, he was entitled to be put out that the manager had not contacted him personally but telephoned everyone else himself. His pride was bruised, as it often is with footballers, but it was still a situation that could have been resolved with little fuss."

amen.

amen.

Yep. Fuck Hodgson, spineless cocksucker.

More and more apparent the racist being in the squad has summat to do with it.

I'm really saddened by all this and more so at my own attitude now.
I have done 3 World Cups and 2 Euro's all away, been a huge England fan even when we never had any representation (as a lot of older blues were).

The way this squad has been selected and the lack of merit applied, I really don't give a shit now.

Nobody has asked Roy the burning question? SIX Liverpool players Roy? Why? they finished 8th for fucks sake!

What went on that you do not want in the public domain? This can be the only reason for so many.

Do you 'really' think that Glenn Johnson or Martin Kelly is a better option than Micah Richards? If you really think this Roy, then you deserve all you get!

This latest selection goes way beyond snubbing Micah.

As I understand it, we have a centre half out injured and we replace with a very mediocre full back. The obvious choice is Wio but he isn't even considered, why?

Answer: he can't. Wio cannot be in same squad as terry, simples. Been in the job 2 mins and he has made a right royal cockup in selecting the old racist, arrogant cockney wide boy Terry.

I am no rag and by no means a wio fan but I still want England to do well and Kelly is an embarrassing selection with players like Micah and wio available.

Is there any proof that Richards did actually snub England? Can't see any newspaper articles talking about it only rumours on twitter.

His statement after the initial snub on the City website doesn't sound like a man who turned down the opportunity to be in the reserve selection.

If he in fact he did then there isn't much we can be fussed about. In fact he has put England in the position where they have to select a very inexperienced and inferior player in his position.

Word is goat that he was contacted as a secondary stand-by not even primary, this was offered to him by Pearce whilst Hodgeson personally called all others.

From Micah's view i can't lie i would do the same and refuse. If that's seeing my arse a bit then so be it, it would be with reason.
I doubt he expected to be carted in like the Queen but if the story is true then i can fully understand his stance.

Manners cost nothing and he obviously feels basic courtesy was severly lacking here.

What's all this "while Hodgson personally called all the others" bullshit? Did Hodgson personally call every English player in the country to tell them he wouldn't be in the squad? When was Michael Johnson called I wonder? Micah simply assumed that Hodgson would call him, but that is out of arrogance. He should have accepted the secondary role and by now would probably have been on the plane to the Euros.

Well that is the story doing the rounds. I make no claims to itk but only whats in the public domain.

Your comment regarding that he "call every English player in the country" is just well...poor.

I will now explain sir...
The pool of players with which he has to choose from is small and not as you suggest that he need call every player. Theatrics are unbecoming of a person wanting to make a solid point.

Your assertion that implies the story is crap is only an opinion. I can see it upsets you but like it or not it is a reasonable possibility.
Of course Micah could have been a shithouse but i would happily shake in blood 500 quid that says it is not Micah demanding he starts as some people are saying.

Micah Richards is proud, not a shithouse.

I heard he outsourced that bit to Geoff Shreeves.

Nonsense.

Richards was in the last England squad before Hodgson took over. At the very least he (and every other player in that squad) deserved to be spoken to by the manager himself. Funnily enough, all the others were.

And Micah turned down the opportunity to play in that sham friendly against Norway while some of the other players were resting their weary legs. This was after Hodgson's squad and list of standby players had already been confirmed. So he would have been backup to the backups. I'd have told Hodgson to sling it as well.

All I can think of as why woy is picking all these Liverpool players is that he wants to give as much playing time to these players so when the season starts they will be cream crackered, thus Liverpool will finish in the bottom 3.I know it is far fetched but honestly Kelly .

Selection of Kelly confirms my suspicion that, once again, the FA has appointed a charlatan who is clueless.
That most knowledgable of pundits - Alan Smith - apparently agrees that Kelly is a reasonable choice as he can play at full back or centre back. Unfortunately, he omits to mention that the poor boy's only experience has been gained in Liverpool's reserve and junior teams.
Don't most other euro squads comprise of strong experienced players? Thought so.
Can't wait to see the dream partnership on the right side of the defence - Johnson and Kelly. Imagine those 2 against Spain, Germany or Holland. A patriot's nightmare!

there is no explanation whatsoever to justify kelly's selection on merit. none.

hodgson is just a poor man's capello; he isn't making any brave decisions, he is simply copying exactly what capello did.

i was hoping he would freshen up the england scene; bringing in the players that warranted selection and bringing respect back to the england team. however, he has failed, and the england set up has become more of a joke.

remember capello on sky months ago saying kelly was a good option for the future? and everyone laughed? well roy has simply fallen for it.

look at what hodgson's first 11 would have been (probably):

hart
johnson
terry
cahill
cole
walcott
barry
gerard
parker
young
carroll/wellbeck

apart from 1 or 2 players, this is exactly the same team that capello was picking. the lack of change under hodgson is really embarrassing for him.

and yet all he is questioned about is a fucking trip to auchwitz
