The only think that could prejudice an case is if someone leaks something that isn't public knowledge and I think most of us on here are sensible enough not to do anything stupid.

I'm pretty sure the mods are keeping this thread under close watch just in case.

Apparently there have been some education sessions going on by lawyers to a number of clubs. Not sure who's been pushing that e.g. PFA, but apparently some of the club's (not local) we're not very interested in it.

Sounds like some of the players had the view that if they were paying for the drinks...

I don’t read the papers anymore but it’s not even in the minor stories on the BBC main news page, what a surprise.

It was on there until about an hour ago and was all over TV reports this morning and last night. It went from allegations, to a 20 yr old being arrested from GMP. I suspect they're getting nervous about prejudicing anything now, especially as the name of the alleged victim is known.

I'm not entirely sure they can prejudice the case any more given that the victim either outed herself or had her name revealed by someone 'hacking' her phone/social media accounts which was subsequently plastered all over Twitter for about 6 hours. The genie is out of the bottle and there isn't a big enough carpet to sweep this story under.

Regardless of what's already out there, the media as a whole treated him as guilty yesterday. If he gets charged, that could be an issue if it carried on, hence I think they'll be getting their lawyers to write the story on it for now.

They may have a nod that a charge is likely, as seems odd to be removed completely even if they have nothing new at the moment

I'm guessing we can't be very far away from the 24 hour mark from his arrest which was mid/late afternoon yesterday. The police either have to charge him or release him on bail pending further investigations. They can ask for an extension up to 96 hours but that's usually reserved for serious cases such as suspected murder.

Yes , with a tag on as trial has been pushed back till the summer

The only reason that Mendy was denied bail is that he broke a previous court order issued in the October of 2020.
