If someone came to you and offered you £300,000 for your D-reg Fiat Uno, you'd take it.

I'd never own a Fiat Uno, I need to make that perfectly clear, but anyway your example doesn't really work because it doesn't take in to account the potentially self defeating consequences of selling a top player to united. Would you sell your Lada Riva to someone for 300k if you had reason to think he was going to deliberately knock you down at high speed in it a year or so later?

The inference here is that you wouldn't own a Fiat Uno, but you wouldn't be averse to owning a Lada Riva.

I think I will reserve judgement

Mata is an exceptionally good player and will be a huge plus to that lot for years to come.

Which is a shame and semi puts to bed the idea that they can't spend.

Shame as I was enjoying their nosedive.

He can't play in the Champions League for them this season, and I doubt they'll even make the competition next season, even with Mata, unless they sign a top CM and CB. I can't see him lasting there long, they're a club on the decline and they really have no hope of replacing getting replacements for players like Vidic, Van Persie & Ferdinand.
And it's only a matter of time before Rooney is either on 500k a week or he's fucked off out the door.
He won't be able to play in the Capital cup final or the FA cup for some reason too...............

I don't normally agree with him but i'd already said this,so I suppose I am agreeing. To pay near £40 million for someone like this def smacks of desperation .Great deal for Chelsea, whilst not doing the other top teams a favour by handing them this well overpriced payment .If it was Fabregas i'd be distraught ,Mata ,I don't really give a shit.

It's a shame that Mata will love it in the north west with out Spanish players probably making him settle more quickly
