Match discussion - Arsenal (H) - Saturday 4 Oct k.o. 12:00

I've never seen Russo have a good game - mostly anonymous every game I've seen her.

Is she actually good? Or just another case of her being the poster girl. Would definitely have Beaver-Jones starting for Lionesses than her

I really want to dislike Toone, everything in me says I should, but she does seem like a likeable person.

I don't mind her, I think she is a good player and whilst I am not on social media I do get players posts sent to me from friends but I never see anything disparaging from her. She appears to get a lot of stick just because of who she plays for.

Russo's great but the things shes good at dont make for great show reel moments. Shes superb at holding up the ball but she can end up being anonymous in some games whens shes left isolated. It looked Arsenal were getting the best out of her towards the end of last season but not so much now. Thought Liv Smith joining Arsenal would make for a dangerous partnership but she didnt look that great against a slow Ouahabi yesterday.

I've never heard anyone actually explain the details of the falling out between Kelly and the club. Just a load of bullshit rumours that our fans jump on to dig out Taylor more. It was obviously more than Taylor is she's running to our directors boxes smacking her badge and pointing.

She's got the ego of Ronaldo but hasn't been a first team regular in over 2 years - for City, Arsenal or England
Yeah, clearly a lot of bitterness in Chloe's antics after scoring. The game can do without it. There's plenty of video channels to vent a bruised ego.

Was Arsenal "her club" when she was trying to force through a move to United, or did it come after that?

But back to City, great performance and fantastic to see Beney get her first goal - been impressed with her so hopefully she can kick on even more now.

I think the fans were digging out Taylor because he failed to deliver, the football was predictable and boring and Chloe Kelly wasn't the only player whose relationship with him disintegrated. He was a bad people manager and multiple players have said as much.

But its true that Kelly's beef wasnt only with Taylor. She alluded to as much in her own post when it she mentioned there was a woman within the club she was also beefing with. Reading between the lines its highly likely that person would be Charlotte O'Neill given she is the MD and was very tight with Taylor.

What she did after her goal was a bit naughty and showed her in a bad light. No idea if she’s a decent person or not, but came across as a bit of a twunt in the game after her goal.

As for the tweet, it’s not from City, but a City fan site, so I guess it’s fair game…and she does have a good comeback!

Don’t like to see anyone bugging themselves up through their socials, but then you have to live with the consequences, so…
WHat you also have to factor in is that it's almost straight after the game that this interaction happened. So she's gone on that platform and searched out her name to see what people are saying about her. She wasn't tagged in the post and I doubt she follows City fan accounts.

So, basically fell out with the club because they backed the manager

I think her beef with the unnamed woman at the club was was more related to them briefing the press about it rather than backing the manager as such.

My 2 pence on it is that the club didnt do anything wrong by trying to send her on loan to less of a direct rival (Brighton) and it was wrong of her to act like they were holding her hostage or something. But also I get she was looking out for her own interests and probs didnt feel like she owed the hierarchy too much if Taylor was being a dick to her as well as some of the other players. Two things can be true at once - she wasn't playing well and lost her place (that's on her) but the situation was also managed very badly and there was a repeating pattern of us not being able to integrate or manage a squad beyond Taylor's preferred 11 players (that's on Taylor). People might think Kelly has a bit of an ego but there were other players of a much more humble disposition who had the exact same problem with him.

Perhaps if somebody within the hierarchy had taken decisive action and sacked Taylor much earlier, the atmosphere around the place might have been much better, and players retained,

But that is all history now, and Cloe Kelly getting so much attention on here is a waste of energy imo.

She no longer plays for City ,yet still appears to have a big problem with the club, despite getting a move that she wanted and being part of the Arsenal team who won the CL.

I think she would be better focusing on that and concentrating on her current club, but that doesn't appear to be within her personality.

I think this is probably the best take. Everyone needs to just move on. But i do think if people feel generally affronted or offended by a goal celebration then maybe football isn't for them lol.

Like @better dead than red said, I think she enjoys treading the hero/villain line and im all for it myself. We need extra rivalry and subplots in the game. She gives out some stick and I think fans are entitled to give a bit back (and i think she enjoys it to be fair.) When it crosses into abuse or people calling her a bitch (as ive seen on other corners of the internet) that crosses a line.

Quite right, spot on post - I for one am glad that those higher ups at the club saw that the future was playing the likes of Aoba and Mary ahead of Kelly. She had been given the chance the season before when Bunny got injured to lead the club to the championship but went missing then cried to the media when she was left on the bench.

As for Taylor, Therese gave him a little bit of rope due to the former head of football giving him a new contract and acted as soon as she could - It was the correct call and I for one think that she has done a sterling job in recruitment since.

I’ve just seen the highlights.

A brilliant cross and a great header for the first.

A slice of luck for the second.

But wasn’t Iman very composed for the winner? She took her time and picked her spot, when it would have been so easy to panic and fluff the shot.
